The Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale introduces a major update to Mega Evolution. Eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon can now use an additional Charged Attack, while Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y gain new Adventure Effects through Dynamic Punch+ and Future Sight+. Several other featured Mega Pokémon will also receive new Charged Attacks during the event.
Beginning now, Pokémon that can reach Super Max Level will have an additional Charged Attack while Mega Evolved.
- Eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon will know an additional Charged Attack, regardless of which Mega Level they are.
- The power of the attacks will increase as the Pokémon’s Mega Level increases.
In the future, as Pokémon gain access to Super Max Levels, they’ll also get an additional Charged Attack while Mega Evolved. At this time, Pokémon won’t be able to use the additional Charged Attack in Gym battles against Pokémon defending a Gym.
New Charged Attacks
During the Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, a variety of other Mega Pokémon will also gain access to new Charged Attacks!

Mewtwo will know the following additional Charged Attacks depending on their Mega Evolution:
- Mega Mewtwo X will know Dynamic Punch+
- Mega Mewtwo Y will know Future Sight+
Mewtwo will also be able to use unique Adventure Effects when it first learns these moves.
Mega Mewtwo X will be able to use Dynamic Punch+ and Mega Mewtwo Y will be able to use Future Sight+. Once unlocked, Mewtwo will also be able to use these Adventure Effects when it isn’t Mega Evolved. Trainers will need to use Mega Energy and Candy to activate these effects.
Dynamic Punch+
Mega Mewtwo X will gain access to Dynamic Punch+. It will increase your Pokémon’s damage against Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Mega Raids and Super Mega Raids. In Super Mega Raids, it also allows Trainers to break two shields at once instead of one.
Future Sight+
Mega Mewtwo Y will gain access to Future Sight+. This will reveal Pokémon that will appraise as 3-Star or higher when entering an encounter. Pokémon with high stats will glow during the encounter.
Mega Mewtwo X and Y Return

Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y return for the Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale.
- On Saturday, September 5, Mega Mewtwo X will feature in Mega Raids.
- On Sunday, September 6, Mega Mewtwo Y will feature in Mega Raids.
Some Pokémon caught from Mega Raids during the event may have a Special Background inspired by Mega Evolution. Keep an eye on your Pokémon’s summary page after a successful catch, and Mega Evolve eligible Pokémon to see their backgrounds transform while they’re Mega Evolved.
Ways to Collect Mega Energy
Mega Energy can be obtained in the following ways:
- Trainers can collect the most Mega Energy by defeating a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in a Mega Raid Battle.
- You can also occasionally earn Mega Energy by walking with your Buddy Pokémon if you have previously Mega-Evolved a Pokémon in your Buddy Pokémon’s Evolutionary line.
Please note: You will need to collect separate Mega Energy X or Mega Energy Y to Mega Evolve Pokémon that can Mega Evolve into both an X or Y form. For example, to Mega Evolve Charizard into Mega Charizard X, you will need to collect Charizard Mega Energy X.
How to Increase Your Pokémon’s Mega Level
Once you’ve Mega Evolved a Pokémon for the first time, it’s possible to Mega Evolve them without using Mega Energy. You can increase Mega Levels of a Pokémon in the following ways:
- By Mega Evolving that Pokémon multiple times.
- B using significant amounts of Mega Energy to instantly level it up.
