Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale is a free, unticketed global event taking place on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time each day. The event brings the summer to a close with two days of rotating habitats, a huge lineup of Mega Raids, and Super Mega Raids featuring Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.
The weekend is the culmination of a larger Mega Evolution celebration that begins with Mega Ascension and continues through GO Pass: Mega Finale, where Trainers can choose Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie, collect Mega Energy, and prepare for the main event.

Event Bonuses and Effects
All Trainers will have access to these bonuses during the event:
Following a short network disruption that affected raids in the Americas, all Trainers can receive up to 2 additional free Raid Passes during Day 2 of Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale.
There will be no limit on Remote Raids from Saturday, September 5, to Sunday, September 6, 2026.
All Mega-Evolved Pokémon will receive an extra CP boost from Saturday, September 5, to Sunday, September 6, 2026.
Pokémon caught from Mega Raids during the event may have a Mega Evolution-themed Special Background.
When a Pokémon with a Mega Evolution-themed Special Background is Mega Evolved, its background will feature additional effects for the duration of the Mega Evolution.
Trainers who upgrade to GO Pass Deluxe: Mega Finale can also earn the following rewards:

Increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon from certain Mega Raids and event Pokémon encounters.
A note on Seasonal Activities
Seasonal activities will be suspended: Daily Discoveries, seasonal Mega Raids, five-star raids, Shadow Raids, Raid Hours and Spotlight Hours will not occur from August 31 at 12:01 a.m. until September 6 at 11:59 p.m. local time. Mega Ascension and Mega Finale raids replace them.
Mega Finale Raid Schedule
Mega Finale brings back many previously released Mega Pokémon, including some that originally debuted in Super Mega Raids and will now appear in regular Mega Raids. Raid bosses rotate hourly across four habitats, with each habitat appearing twice during the eight-hour event day.
Mega Mewtwo will appear at certain Gyms, while other Gyms will host the rotating habitat Mega Raid bosses.

Raid Distribution during GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale Weekend
Raid distribution will work a little differently during this weekend’s event. Super Mega Raids will feature Mega Mewtwo X on Saturday and Mega Mewtwo Y on Sunday, while Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids.
- The remaining raids will feature Mega Pokémon from the four rotating habitats, with an even split that changes each hour.
- During event hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time, Mega Mewtwo will spawn at 30% of eligible Super Mega Raid Gyms, while 60% of other Gyms will host Mega Raids.
- Outside event hours, all non-Super Mega Raid Gyms will feature Mega Raids. The lower Mega Mewtwo spawn rate is intended to keep raid distribution balanced and ensure Campsites remain usable.
Mega Finale Saturday Habitats
Saturday features four rotating habitats throughout the day, each appearing twice during event hours. Every habitat has its own set of wild Pokémon and Mega Raid Bosses, while Mega Mewtwo X will appear in Super Mega Raids throughout the day.

Additional Charged Attacks come to Mega Evolved Pokémon
Beginning now, Pokémon that can reach Super Max Level will have an additional Charged Attack while Mega Evolved.
- Eligible Mega-Evolved Pokémon will know an additional Charged Attack, regardless of which Mega Level they are.
- The power of the attacks will increase as the Pokémon’s Mega Level increases.
In the future, as Pokémon gain access to Super Max Levels, they’ll also get an additional Charged Attack while Mega Evolved. At this time, Pokémon won’t be able to use the additional Charged Attack in Gym battles against Pokémon defending a Gym.

Mega Mewtwo Adventure Effects
Mewtwo will know the following additional Charged Attacks depending on their Mega Evolution:
- Mega Mewtwo X will know Dynamic Punch+
- Mega Mewtwo Y will know Future Sight+
Mewtwo will also be able to use unique Adventure Effects when it first learns these moves.
Mega Mewtwo X will be able to use Dynamic Punch+ and Mega Mewtwo Y will be able to use Future Sight+. Once unlocked, Mewtwo will also be able to use these Adventure Effects when it isn’t Mega Evolved. Trainers will need to use Mega Energy and Candy to activate these effects.
Dynamic Punch+
Mega X Mewtwo
Mega Mewtwo X will gain access to Dynamic Punch+. It will increase your Pokémon’s damage against Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Mega Raids and Super Mega Raids. In Super Mega Raids, it also allows Trainers to break two shields at once instead of one.
Future Sight+
Mega Y Mewtwo
Mega Mewtwo Y will gain access to Future Sight+. This will reveal Pokémon that will appraise as 3-Star or higher when entering an encounter. Pokémon with high stats will glow during the encounter.
Armored Mewtwo Returns to Pokémon GO After Six Years
Armored Mewtwo is finally returning to Pokémon GO after a six-year absence. The news was announced during the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco! Last available in 2020, Armored Mewtwo will return as part of Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, appearing in five-star raids on both days of the global event.

Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids during the following times:
- Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time
- Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time
Shiny Armored Mewtwo will not be available during the event.
Timed Research
To start your adventure, complete the branching Timed Research to choose Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie. Once you complete that Timed Research, you’ll get GO Pass: Mega Finale starting on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time to continue your journey with that Pokémon!
New Special Backgrounds
Pokémon caught from Mega Raids during the Mega Ascension event and Mega Finale weekend may have a Mega Evolution–themed Special Background. Starting during the Mega Ascension event, when a Pokémon with a Mega Evolution–themed Special Background is Mega Evolved, its background will have additional effects for the duration of the Mega Evolution.
New Avatar Items
Kalos first partner Pokémon-inspired avatar shirts will be available through GO Pass Deluxe: Mega Finale. The shirt you receive will match the Kalos first partner Pokémon you choose at the beginning of your Mega Finale Timed Research.
