The Pokémon GO 10th Anniversary logo and artwork has been revealed, and it is quite a change up on prior years in both style, and content! All previous years anniversary artworks have been an illustrative style by an artist, but this year is a more “AR” style piece with a host of Pokémon featured.
Typically they include some sort of teaser for the year ahead, or a few characters, but this year only Pokémon are shown. To make it even more unusual compared previous years, there are no unreleased Pokémon featured!
The following largely fan favourite Pokémon are included in the 10th anniversary image:
Wishful thinking
Now, there are some exciting Pokémon shown here, but with no newbies, there is little to anticipate for the 10th anniversary celebrations and GO Fest! However, many of the Pokémon featured are not only very popular Pokémon, but also have unreleased forms in Pokémon GO. Technically, this could still be a teaser (or my own wishful thinking).
Many trainers anticipate that the 10th year of Pokémon GO will lead to Mega Mewtwo X and Y being released, and it does seem rather fitting doesn’t it? They are the only unreleased Mega Pokémon from the original Megas, but there are also a host of new Mega Pokémon featured in this art too!
Mega Zygarde, Dragonite, Greninga, Absol Z, Lucario Z, Chandelure and Garchomp all have new Mega evolutions featured in Legends Z-A. We also have Eevee, Pikachu and Corviknight, who all have currently unreleased Gigantamax forms.
Could this mean we see a host of these Pokémon released over the 10th year? We hope so! Gigantamax Eevee and Pikachu will be fun even if they won’t be game changing, but many of these Pokémon will make amazing waves in the raid meta! With 30 years of Pokémon to celebrate, and 10 years of Pokémon GO, surely now is the time for Mega Mewtwo X and Y? It couldn’t be better timed.
While we miss the old illustrative art style, and wish there was a more ‘obvious’ teaser, this image does still hint of the future to come!
What are you looking forward to in this tenth year of Pokémon GO?
