The Closing Ceremony of the Pokémon World Championships is often filled with exciting teasers and reveals for upcoming developments across the whole Pokémon Franchise, and 2024 was no exception!
Pokémon World Championships 2025 & 2026
The locations for the next two Pokémon World Championships were revealed! Worlds 2025 will take place August 15-17 2025 in Anaheim, California, USA, and Worlds 2026 will take place August 28-30 2026 in San Francisco, California, USA. Two Worlds on the trot in California!

Pokémon GO
We’ve covered the major Pokémon GO announcements in an article of their own, but expect to see Morpeko, the two-sided Pokémon, soon, and Dynamax was teased!
Morpeko
Morpeko is a big deal in and of itself, because it introduces a new battle mechanic, form changing! This could have major repercussions for a lot of other Pokémon in GO, so is really exciting.
“Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team. Stay tuned for more details on the Two-Sided Pokémon’s electrifying entrance!”
A Dynamax teaser video was also shown, with the tag line ‘Something big is coming’. Many trainers are speculating that not only is Dynamax being teased, but also Eternatus and it’s Eternamax form.
Eternatus
Eternatus (Eternamax)
Eternatus is a Poison and Dragon type Legendary Pokémon from the Galar region, and to say it is a beast is an understatement. It has a whopping 5007CP CP at level 50 with perfect IV, and in their Eternamax Form that leaps to 9255CP. Yes, you read that read, over 9000CP! In the main series games you could only catch one Eternatus via a special event at Tower Summit. In Pokémon GO we expect it to have the following stats: HP of 268, Attack of 278 and Defense 192.

While there is speculation about Eternatus, we think it is more likely that we will probably start out with Pokémon like the Kanto starter final evolutions, Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard, over something as major and game changing as Eternatus.

Pokémon TCG Pocket
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket launches on Wednesday, October 30, 2024! Pocket is a new Pokémon TCG app, that allows you to collect digital versions of Pokémon cards. Pre-registration for the app will be available through the various app stores soon.

Because the cards are digital, a new type of card will be available, Immersive Cards, with animations!
Pokémon TCG
Owner’s Pokémon have been confirmed to return to the Pokemon TCG. According to Bulbapedia, ‘Owner’s Pokémon are a variant of Pokémon in the Pokémon Trading Card Game that have the name of a Trainer, organization, or location as part of the card’s name.’ For example, Brock’s Sandslash and Misty’s Psyduck.
Pokémon Unite
Armarouge, Darkrai and Psyduck have been teased as the next three Pokémon coming to Pokémon Unite! Psyduck was certainly a surprise, but got a huge crowd reaction from those watching the Closing Ceremony in person. We love to see Psyduck getting so much love!
The teaser focused heavily on Psyduck which is so fun. Psyduck will be a Supporter Pokémon, Armarouge will be an attacker, and Darkrai will be a Speedster.
