Pokémon x Natural History Museum

The Pokémon x Natural History Museum pop up shop and collaboration are now live in London, UK at the Cranbourne Boutique shop, and we just had to share.

Serebii had the opportunity to take a first look and film a walk-through of the museum, and it looks incredible!

There are some fantastic displays showing different Pokémon in their natural environments, from Torterra on land, to Dragonite flying high in the sky, through to Furret and Dunsparce burrowed deep underground. There are displays detailing pages from the Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology book which is set to be released later this year and looks to be a brilliant and in-depth look at Pokémon in the natural world.

The exhibit itself is inspired by this book, which was created by author, Yoshinari Yonehara, and illustrator, Chihiro Kinoshita. They both hold doctorate degrees and studied animal behaviour and ecology, making them the ideal people to create the Pokécology book. The book is already a bestseller in Japan, and we expect the English version to be very popular too!

An exclusive part of the Pokémon × Natural History Museum collaboration, an oversized Pikachu at the Museum card can be obtained by attending the event’s limited-time pop-up shop as a gift with purchases. These are limited to one per customer.

For those of us not able to attend the museum in person, the Pikachu at the Museum card will also be available at select UK retailers as a gift with purchase on 30th January. We do not yet know which retailers this will include.

Sadly for the majority, tickets for this adventure have sold out, but there is an online pop-up shop selling some of the limited edition items available. The Pokémon Center are also due to have a small selection of these items for sale later in February. The Pikachu below is one of the anticipated plushies that should be available online, with Pikachu hugging the Natural History Museum. In-person there are also t-shirts, pins, tote bags, lanyards, mugs and more! There are purchase limits, of up to 5 items in total, and only 1 of any item per person, which is great to see, as often these collaborations are mobbed on the first day by scalpers to resell due to a lack of purchase limits.

Of course, as well as access to the shop via tickets, you can also explore the rest of the Natural History Museum, which is full of fascinating dinosaur skeletons, fun activities and more.
