Ranked Battle Adjustments and Mega Stone Rewards Coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The Pokémon Company has shared a new update announcing several upcoming balance adjustments and reward changes to Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Ranked Battle system. These changes are aimed at improving player experience in future seasons and making Mega Stones easier to obtain in general.

Mega Stone Reward Adjustments

Starting with Season 2, the ranks required to earn Mega Stones through Ranked Battle rewards will be relaxed. Specifically:

  • In Season 1, the Mega Stone Greninjite was awarded at Rank K.

  • In Season 2, Delphoxite will now be obtainable at Rank S, while Greninjite will return as a reward at Rank Y — eight ranks lower than before.

This adjustment means players can earn Mega Stones much earlier in their Ranked Battle progression. The Pokémon Company also confirmed that Mega Stones will return more frequently in future seasons, allowing players who missed previous ones to catch up more easily.

Ranked Battle Point and Reward Updates

Future updates will also include changes to Ranked Battle Points. To make the system fairer, points will no longer decrease after certain matches, reducing the frustration of losing progress after a defeat.

Additionally, battle rewards will be increased, with more items added to the post-battle rewards pool to make participation more rewarding overall.

Upcoming Fixes

Two gameplay issues are also being addressed in an upcoming patch:

  • Full Box Catch Glitch – If your storage boxes were completely full before your first Rogue Mega Evolution battle, any Pokémon catches would fail, and Side Missions that reward Pokémon would not grant them. This issue will soon be fixed.

  • Time-of-Day Battle Bug – In some Side Missions, if the time of day changed at the exact moment your attack landed, your Pokémon would no longer be able to hit the target afterward. This will also be corrected in the next update.
