In addition to the games and community-builder companion apps and services, Scopely is bringing over 400 of Niantic employees, and as far as we can tell, business continues as usaul.
Niantic officials have reached out to members of the Community Creator’s program and shared the following statement:
“We are happy to share with you that Niantic’s game business is officially part of Scopely now that the deal has been finalized. It’s business as usual for the Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now teams. We have a lot of exciting content lined up for the rest of the year and look forward to sharing the details soon with our incredible community of players.”
The initial press announcement for the Scopely deal was published on March 12, 2025, which makes this a rather quick turnaround in the corporate world. The deal is valued $3.5 billion US dollars, and has now been completed.
As of the publication of this article, there has been no official statement from the Niantic Spatial team, nor have there been any rumours of layoffs. Given this silence, we believe everything is proceeding in order.
