With the start of the Galarian Expedition Event, the shiny Galarian Legendary Birds have been released on the Daily Adventure Incense. We are pleased to say that Trainers who got the event early have confirmed that the shiny forms will not flee!
For the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter Shiny Galarian Articuno, Shiny Galarian Zapdos, and Shiny Galarian Moltres—if you’re very lucky.
All three shiny forms have been shared by trainers on social media, confirming their availability in Pokémon GO. Be sure to wait till the event starts in your region to use your Daily Adventure Incense!
If you want to optimise your chances, you can use your Origin Forme Dialga’s Adventure Effect ‘Roar of Time’ to extend your Daily Adventure Incense timer. Just remember, you have to keep moving for spawns to appear on your Daily Adventure Incense.
These are incredible shiny forms, with nods back to their original Kanto designs!

With several lucky trainers already encountering the shiny forms, we can now confirm that the shiny forms will not flee like the typical Galarian Legendary Bird does, and will instead just be incredibly difficult to catch.
These wild shiny Legendary Pokémon will work in the same way to the Legendaries we have had featured in the wild in previous global events, like Entei, Raikou, Suicune, the Lake Trio, Latios and Latias.
Their non-shiny regular forms will still have the typical incredibly high flee rate, and will more than likely run after one attempt at catching them. However, for the shiny versions the flee rate is removed, while the catch rate remains the same.
This means that the shiny cannot run from you, but it may take a lot of Ultra Balls and Golden Razz Berries to catch it, so be prepared!
One trainer has sadly reported losing their shiny Galarian Legendary Bird, because they ran out of Pokéballs, so be sure to have a good stash available before you begin your Daily Adventure Incense!
It is also important to note, that using your GO Plus will work in the usual way, with only one attempt at catching the Pokémon before it flees, so be sure to manually catch those shiny Galarian birds!
Happy hunting trainers!
