No, Johto starters (Chikorita, Totodile, Cyndaquil) are no longer obtainable in the 5KM egg group. Despite the confusion and conflicting reports, our Forum Researchers managed to get to the bottom of this issue: Do Gen II starters still hatch from 5KM egg group?

The confusion started with the Eggstravaganza 2017 (April 13 through April 20 2017) event that enabled starter hatches from Eggs collected during the event.

After the event passed, any eggs collected during it still had a chance to hatch a Johto Starter, which lead to even more confusion.

Moreover, there is quite a lot of confusion about how eggs and egg hatches work. Let’s clear up some things:

Before (and after) Eggstravaganza 2017 it was (and still is) not possible to hatch Generation II starters. If you have leftover eggs that you picked up during that event, they can hatch starters. Otherwise, no.

And that’s it — Generation 2 (Johto) starters can not hatch from regular 5KM eggs, only eggs picked up during Eggstravaganza 2017 (April 13 through April 20 2017)!

    I wish they did

Among the starters only fire types (Charmander & Cydaquil) having a hard time finding me ha ha ha. I was lucky enough to hatch a couple of cydaquils during the eggstravaganza event but still waiting on the one worth evolving.

If that’s the case, then i’ve got A LOT of walking to do with the one Cyndaquil that I hatched!

Same here. I’ve caught enough Chikoritas and Bulbasaurs to have more than one Venusaur and Meganium. I have a Blastoise and Feraligator too. But Charizard and Typhlosion? I’d have to walk my Charmander/Charmeleon and Cyndaquil/Quilava 258 km and 162 km respectively, just to get one final evolution that’s at w/e level I currently have.
