Water Pokémon are traditionally very strong in Pokémon GO meta. Such is also the case with Feraligatr and the entire Totodile family line. Strong stats, strong moves and strong potential.

However, Feraligatr is going to divide the player base, as some of it’s movesets are complete train wrecks, while other make him a high tier Gym Attacker. Overall, interesting family line.

Totodile, Croconaw and Feraligatr Max CP and Stats

Finally, a Gen 2 Starter family that’s better than the Gen 1 equivalent. The whole Totodile Pokémon Family has very aggressive Attack stats, with solid Stamina and low defense. Statistically, it’s the best Starter family in Generation 2 of Pokémon GO.

Just for comparison purpose, at the time of writing Feraligatr’s Max CP is 2721 and Blastoise’s Max CP is 2291. That’s a big difference.

Feraligatr is ranked pretty high in Gym Offense and rather low in Gym Defense, following the similar pattern we’ve observed with Arcanine!

Feraligatr best Moves and movesets

Although Feraligatr Stats and Max CP values are great, we can’t say we’re too excited when it comes to it’s move pool. There is only two move sets that are worth a damn, with the rest of the move combos being very low in terms of pure DPS.

The only two good movesets for Feraligatr are:

• Water gun WATER / Hydro Pump WATER
• Bite DARK / Hydro Pump WATER

If you take a look at the moves table below, you will see that some movesets are even worse than having a Croconaw with any moveset! Talk about evolution anxiety.

However, if you manage to get a Feraligatr with a decent moveset, you’ll have a good Attacker in your lineup. Just don’t destroy your phone if you get Feraligatr with Bite DARK / Crunch DARK! 🙁

Closing Words

With the potential to be amazing or awful, Feraligatr is quite divisive. We have no doubt that some Trainers will get the best move combination and rule Gyms with it, however, 70% of Feraligatrs are going to be re-skinned Croconaws.

Still better than Meganium and Typhlosion!
