Mega Pokémon that boost Joltik

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Joltik if they are Mega/Primal evolved. We highly recommend Mega Evolving a Pokémon during this event to get as much candy as possible!

A Note on Mega Catch Bonus

While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Is it Worth Evolving Joltik?

PVE

⚔️ Raids – Galvantula, as a Bug and Electric-type Pokémon, is strong against FlyingWaterGrassPsychic, and Dark-types. Unfortunately, Galvantula cannot make much use of this, as its best move combination of Fury Cutter and Discharge still nets it a paltry DPS of around 12.

PVP

🔵 Great League – Galvantula is actually a decent spice/limited meta pick in the Great League. Its dual Electric and Bug typing makes it weak to only Fire and Rock-type attacks. Its fast attack of choice, Volt Switch, despite having a long animation, is still a fantastic move thanks to a good blend of energy generation and damage. This allows Galvantula to reach its charged attacks of choice, Lunge and Discharge, really quickly.

The problem with Galvantula is that it is directly competing with CharjabugCharjabug has better stats (Galvantula is extremely frail), the same typing, and the much more spammy X-Scissor.

🟡 Ultra League – Galvantula has a Max CP of 2494. This means you will need a perfect 15/15/15 IV Galvantula and spend tons of XL Candies on it to make it viable for the Ultra League. This level of investment just isn’t worth it in a meta where Galvantula performs okay at best.

🟣 Master League – With a max CP of 2494Galvantula is not strong enough for the Master League.
