Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday during the month of April. This Spotlight Hour takes place on April 23rd, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with a bonus of 2x XP for catching Pokémon.
This Spotlight Hour is the penultimate April 2024 Pokémon spotlight, and it features Trubbish, the Rubbish Pokémon. This is especially interesting as this spotlight hour lands during Sustainability Week 2024. Trubbish is a featured Pokémon for Field Research encounters and Egg Pools during the event. I think Trubbish is a very apt Pokémon to feature during this event, as sustainability focuses on reducing waste.
Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per ‘mon caught. Here’s everything you need to know!
Spotlight Hour
Bonuses
- You will get 2x XP for catching Pokémon
- The featured Pokémon and its evolution can be shiny in Pokémon GO
Note on XP Bonus
If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x catch XP bonus by catching any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! Remember to stack 2 Lucky Eggs if you’re out for the duration of Spotlight Hour.
Note on Stardust Bonus
Trubbish is one of the special Pokémon that yield more Stardust per catch, here’s the rundown:
Base Stardsut | Weather Boosted | Base Stardust + Star Piece | Weather Boosted + Star Piece |
750 | 938 Cloudy | 1125 | 1406 |
If you’re lucky enough to have Cloudy weather during this Spotlight Hour, with a Star Piece running throughout you could earn around 84,000 Stardust. Remember, if you don’t have 2 Star Pieces, you can always use Roar of Time to pause the timers.
Trubbish
Trubbish is a Poison-type Pokémon with a Max CP of 1131 in Pokémon GO. Trubbish’s best moveset is Pound and Gunk Shot. It is weather boosted by Cloudy weather, and it was originally found in the Unova region. Shiny Trubbish is available in Pokémon GO.
Trubbish is weak to Ground and Psychic-type moves. It takes reduced damage from Bug, Fairy, Fighting, Grass, and Poison-type moves.
Trubbish evolves into Garbodor which costs 50 Trubbish Candy.
Shiny Trubbish
Shiny Trubbish has blue colouring as opposed to its usual green. It’s a pretty easy one to spot, good luck Trainers! When evolved, Garbodor takes on a pretty radioactive blue which works really well with the theme.

Mega Pokémon that boost Trubbish
The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Trubbish if they are Mega/Primal evolved:
A Note on Mega Catch Bonus
While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.
Is it worth evolving Trubbish?
Shiny Gardbodor is worth having, I mean just look at it! However, Garbodor isn’t particularly high up in the meta for PVE or PVP, so at this stage I wouldn’t suggest investing in it.
