Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Thursday during the month of October. Seedot Spotlight Hour takes place on October 1st, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with a bonus of 2x XP for catching Pokémon.
This Spotlight Hour is the first October 2026 Pokémon spotlight, and is especially interesting as Seedot can be shiny.
Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Pokémon caught. Here’s everything you need to know!

If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x catch XP bonus by catching any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! Remember to stack 2 Lucky Eggs if you’re out for the duration of Spotlight Hour, or make use of Roar of Time to pause your timers.
Seedot
Seedot is a Grass-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. As a Grass-type Pokémon, Seedot is weak to Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison-type moves.
Seedot’s maximum Combat Power stat is 676 CP, and its recommended Pokémon GO moveset is Quick Attack / Grass Knot. Seedot encounters are boosted during Sunny weather. Shiny Seedot is available! ✨

For all the completionists out there, there is a small difference between the male and female Nuzleaf and Shiftry.
- The female form of Nuzeaf has a smaller lead on top of its head compared to the male Nuzleaf.
- The female form of Shiftry has smaller leaves on their hands compared to the male Shiftry.
If you’re shiny hunting during this spotlight, you should be able to spot this shiny form pretty quickly. The top of the acorn becomes a lighter silver and the body becomes more of a red/orange colour.

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Seedot if they are Mega evolved.
Mega Catch Bonus
While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.
PVE
Despite having a good moveset on both the Grass and Dark departments, Shiftry is rather underwhelming in the meta due to its low ATK. Moreover, with Meowscarada outperforming it in the Grass side, there’s no reason to go with Shiftry in PvE.
⚔️ Raids
Shiftry’s Grass-type DPS is even behind Arboliva while its Dark-type DPS is behind Shadow Carvanha. This gives you a clear picture of how bad Shiftry is in Pokémon GO Raids.

With lightning fast energy generation and hard-hitting Charged Moves, Shiftry is a menace in PvP. It is extremely dominant against Water, Ground, and Ghost Pokémon, and these traits alone make it a quality addition to your team. That said, Shiftry is quite frail, so you often go down to high-octane Fast Moves. But even then, Shiftry is often successful in baiting a shield because of how hard Leaf Blade hits.
Ultimately, Shiftry does make an impact!
🟡 Ultra League
Shiftry is a terrifying threat in the Ultra League, punishing the format’s top Water (expect regular Feraligatr and both regular and Shadow Empoleon), Ground, and Ghost (except Gourgeist Super) types with utmost dominance. Yes, it also beats Giratina Altered and a slew of other major targets like Armored Mewtwo, Cresselia, Steelix, and Lickilicky.
Shiftry is always appreciated in PvP for its ability to leave a dent even during unfavorable matchups. Be it cutting down a lot of HP or baiting a shield, this Pokémon excels in this role, making it a valuable part of your Ultra League team. That said, remember that Meowscarada is a far better Pokémon for these battles!
