Stufful

April Community Day takes place on April 23, 2022, and it features the Flailing Pokémon – Stufful! Stufful will be appearing more frequently in the wild, Bewear gets an exclusive Fighting move Drain Punch, and you will be able to get 3× XP and 2× Candy from catching Pokémon during the event.

April Community Day is the first Pokémon GO Community day that returns to the three-hours play window, alongside other significantly large changes which Trainers will have to adapt to.

This page details all the Community Day changes to expect, and contains a comprehensive guide to getting the most of Stufful Community day. Do note that this event features unlockable Group-play bonuses on top of the normal Community Day bonuses.

Event icon Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time

Event Bonuses

  • Pokemon Encounter icon Stufful will appear more frequently in the wild

  • Candy icon 2× Catch Candy

Additional Group Play bonuses

Work together with other Trainers to unlock additional bonuses in your area!

  • If enough Pokémon are caught near a single PokéStop with an active Lure Module, the 3× Catch XP bonus will become a 4× Catch XP bonus near that PokéStop for 30 minutes.
  • This bonus will not stack with the base 3× catch XP bonus and will instead replace it for the duration.

This bonus is a nifty way of racking up more XP. Again, this is another way for Niantic to entice the community to get back together and play in person as per their decision to revert the duration back to normal. Don’t forget to stock up on Lucky Eggs!

Community Day Stufful

We’re excited to announce that Stufful, the Flailing Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut during April’s Community Day event! Stufful will appear in the wild, and if you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!

Stufful

Stufful will appear more frequently in the wild. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one! You’ll need 400 Stufful Candy to evolve Stufful to Bewear.

Bewear Exclusive Community Day Attack: Drain Punch

Bewear

Evolve Stufful during the event or up to two hours afterwards to get a Bewear that knows the Charged Attack Drain Punch Fighting. Making its Pokémon GO debut, this Charged Attack can provide Bewear with a defensive boost!

  • Trainer Battles: 20 power and guaranteed to increase the user’s Defense.
  • Gyms and Raids: 50 power

At first glance, this may not look like a powerful Charged Attack at all, however, with further inspection, we can see that this move resembles Power-Up-Punch which does a low amount of damage but increases the user’s Attack by one stage.

Drain Punch can be a great way of making your Bewear an unkillable machine over time. Not only will this exclusive move be good for boosting your Defense, but it will also be an excellent bait move too which can possibly make Bewear into a strong competitor in PvP battles.

Stufful Community Day (April 2022)

Stufful Community Day bonuses

Here’s a quick reminder of the bonuses you can expect:

  • 3× XP for catching Pokémon.
  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Trainers level 40 and above will have double the chance to obtain Stufful Candy XL by catching Stufful.
  • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • One additional special trade can be made during the event and up to two hours after for a maximum of two for the day.
  • Trades made during the event and up to two hours after the event will require 50% less Stardust.

Essential items for the event

  • Lucky Egg icon 6× Lucky Egg
  • Incense icon 1× Incense
  • Lure icon 3× Lure
  • Pinap Berry icon 150× Pinap Berry
  • PokeBall icon 150× PokeBall
  • Great Ball icon 150× Great Ball

If you’re looking to maximize these bonuses, use a Lucky Egg at the start of Community Day and keep it up during the event. Doing so will double the XP you earn from catching Pokémon, combining with the event’s bonus to provide an impressive 6× XP bonus.

Incense will help the spawns going on during the event, and it makes sense to spend one Incense at the start of the event – it lasts for three hours anyway.

Stock up on enough PokéBalls and Pinap Berries to collect Stufful Candy. Pinaps will stack with the event’s bonus to provide a large 4× Candy Bonus.

Tips and tricks

Don’t catch Pokémon before the event starts

Pokémon you have not caught before the event start can turn into Stufful, which means it is best to arrive at your spot early, and wait to catch until the event starts.

Restart the app before the event

Be patient – there will always be errors and bugs at the start of the event. It is best to restart the app in most, if not all, cases.

Don’t forget to spin PokéStops

Remember PokéStops give out quests that are very beneficial on Community Day, giving you rewards for Stardust, Great and Ultra Balls, and Pinap Berries, all things that can help you if your stocks are low.

Don’t activate lures before the event starts

To ensure that you have Lures up the entire duration, do not set your lures before the start of the event, as those will only last 30 minutes. The Lure has to go up after the event has started to last for three hours. Not to mention it will block the boosted CD spawns from spawning until it has depleted.

Use Incense

Use Incense to attract even more Pokémon to you while you’re out hunting. If you are wondering, yes, Incense can spawn Community Day ‘mons, that can be shiny. There is not a reason why you should avoid Incense if you have it.

Don’t forget to enjoy the event

  • Chat with your fellow Trainers and grow your local Pokémon Go community. Make good use of the QR code feature to make some new friends!
  • Promote the new Pokémon Go features and events to Trainers who are just starting their adventure or haven’t been playing for a while. People are coming back around due to trading, new Pokémon, PvP, the numerous events, and these community-based events.
  • Most importantly, have fun, get some shinies, and hope for no game breaking glitches!

Community Day Adjustments

We also wanted to take a moment to discuss some changes to the Community Day format we’ll be testing. In 2020, we doubled the length of our Community Day events, extending them from three hours to six. Since then, however, we’ve found that only five percent of our Trainers tend to participate in the event for more than three hours.

One of the biggest pieces of positive feedback that we received after January’s three-hour Community Day Classic was that players and community leaders noticed how much more of the community was out and about during the event. So, for Stufful Community Day, we’re returning to three-hour format. Our hope is that doing so will create even more opportunities for Trainers to play together and connect outside as they’re exploring.

We know that Trainers have enjoyed all of the extra resources that can be collected during longer events, so we’re adding some new and exciting perks to Stufful Community Day to give you the ability to collect just as many resources in half the time. Check them out below!

This is the part that Trainers might not be so accepting about. Niantic believes that the majority of players don’t play for over 3 hours during a Community Day event. One of their main reasons for this change is to attempt to try and create more opportunities for players to interact in person and ultimately ‘connect’ with one another like the game was originally intended to do.

Parting Words

Without a doubt, this duration change will have the Pokémon GO community talking, whether it be for good or bad.

Personally, I enjoy the longer Community Days as they feel less stressful. Reverting back to 3 hours will make me feel as though I most certainly MUST play during those hours or I will feel as though I will fall behind and miss out on getting XP, Candy XL and simply experiencing the joy of participating in a Community Day.

We would love to hear from you about your thoughts on this Community Day! Feel free to join in the conversation and comment below if you are for or against this change.

Until next time, Trainers!
Stay safe and happy hunting.
