Regigigas is a pure Normal type Legendary Pokémon that will almost certainly be available only through Tier 5 raids. Regigigas, with a MAX CP of 4346, pairing with an ATK of 287, DEF of 210 and STA of 221, put it in competition with Arceus and possibly Porygon-Z as the top Normal type in the game. Regigigas has incredible stats, similar to but better than most Legendary Pokémon introduced in Pokémon GO.
Without abilities, it will not have its dreaded Slow Start, though we are unsure if it will be at all nerfed to make up for that like Slaking was to make up for its lack of Truant.
Regigigas in the Meta
Regigigas and Arceus will battle it out to reign as King of the Normal type attackers in Pokémon GO, with Porygon-Z also being part of the discussion. (Slaking, on the other hand, deserves some kind of mention as a contender, as it would be King of the Normal type category if it only had a usable fast attack move.)
In this chart, we will look at Regigigas’s viability as a Normal type Pokémon and how it sizes up to some of the other popular Normal type contenders either currently in the game or upcoming in Generation 4.
Pokémon | Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina |
---|---|---|---|---|
Slaking | 4431 | 290 | 166 | 284 |
Regigigas | 4346 | 287 | 210 | 221 |
Arceus | 3989 | 238 | 238 | 237 |
Snorlax | 3225 | 190 | 169 | 330 |
Blissey | 2757 | 129 | 169 | 496 |
Porygon-Z | 3266 | 264 | 150 | 198 |
Ursaring | 2945 | 236 | 144 | 207 |
Staraptor | 2825 | 234 | 140 | 198 |
Traditionally, Pokémon GO’s Normal types sport a high CP, coupled with a good Attack stat and some have an extremely high, if not elite, Stamina stat. Regigigas is no exception to this rule. With a 287 Attack stat, it comes in second behind only Slaking. It is worth noting, however, that Slaking’s high Attack stat is more eye candy than being useful due to Yawn being its fast attack move. Regigigas has the second highest Defense stat among Normal types at 210 and has a Stamina stat that comes in the middle of the pack among Normal types at 200.
Regigigas will take super effective damage from Fighting type moves.
On the bright side, it will be resistant to Ghost type moves.

Pokédex Entries and Facts
Regigigas’s Pokédex entries from various games definitely give insight as to why it is called the “Colossal Pokémon.”
- Its Diamond Pokédex entry indicates that, “There is an enduring legend that states this Pokémon towed continents with ropes.”
- Meanwhile other dex entries point out, “It is said to have made Pokémon that look like itself from a special ice mountain, rocks, and magma” and “It is believed to have shaped REGIROCK, REGICE, and REGISTEEL out of clay, ice, and magma.”
