Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Global takes place on July 11 and 12, and many Trainers will be hunting for Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y raids throughout the weekend. The problem is that Mega Mewtwo will not be the only Raid Boss appearing during the event.
On Saturday, Mega Mewtwo X will share the raid pool with nearly 40 other Raid Bosses. Sunday is even more chaotic, with Mega Mewtwo Y competing for Gym spawns against close to 60 other Raid Bosses. Granted that recently Niantic has confirmed that only a handful will compete with Mega Mewtwo every 3 hour; but we are still looking at anywhere between 10 to 25 other Legendaries, Mythicals, Ultra Beasts and 4* Mega Raid Bosses diluting the raid pool at any point of time. With a pool that size, there’s a very real chance that you could go on for hours without seeing a single Mega Mewtwo if you’re raiding blind.
The good news is that you can prepare before GO Fest begins. By using the official Pokémon GO web map, Trainers can check which Gyms are marked for Super Mega Raids, plan a better raid route, and increase their chances of finding Mega Mewtwo raids during the event.
Since GO Tour 2026 in March, Pokémon GO has made available an official browser-based map on their website – a particularly useful tool that is strangely overlooked by a lot of trainers. The map lets you see which Gyms in your area, or any area that you can navigate to, are designated as Super Mega Raid Gyms; and this is the key to finding Mega Mewtwo X and Y during GO Fest 2026.
This is what you can get from the map:
- Gyms not marked as Super Mega Raid Gyms should have a 0% chance of spawning Mega Mewtwo X or Y – based on the experience of Go Tour 2026 with Mega Victreebel, Malamar and Dragonite.
- Gyms marked as Super Mega Raid Gyms have a chance to spawn Mega Mewtwo, though it is not guaranteed every cycle.
It is important to not assume that your usual raiding hotspots will be Super Mega Raid Gyms. Gyms at your local shopping mall might just be regular Gyms all weekend, while a Gym in a seemingly quieter housing area nearby could be your best shot at Mega Mewtwo. Let’s take a look at the example below with the Orchard area – one of the busiest and most crowded shopping areas in Singapore:
In this screenshot of the area, there are roughly 40 Gyms shown (seen by toggling the Gyms icon at the navigation bar at the top).
However when Super Mega Raids filter is toggled, only 11 Gyms out of 40 would show up in the second screenshot. This means that for those who plan to go to the Orchard area to raid for Mega Mewtwo during the event, they should only focus on the Gyms as shown in the screenshot.
The map is already live and showing Super Mega Raid Gym designations ahead of the event, meaning you can scout your area right now, plan your route, and walk into GO Fest weekend knowing exactly which Gyms to prioritize. For raid hosts, you will be able to tell exactly which area to gather your community for the highest chance of Mega Mewtwo raids.
With a raid pool this diluted, knowing which Gyms have a chance to spawn Mega Mewtwo in advance isn’t just helpful – it’s the difference between farming Mega Mewtwo vs. spending your event day on yet another [insert the name of the Raid Boss that you do not want to farm but still appear anyway here].
