How to Remotely Check Gyms for Raid Battles

Posted in

Although this trick has been around a fascinatingly long time, and is extremely helpful, we have noticed that there has never been a proper guide to doing this on the site, and we have been asked to write one!!

Especially with the addition of timers on ongoing raids, this trick is a lifesaver. It is helpful for players who don’t have their eyes on a lot of gyms from home, but want to try and find a raid to do for their community, or just a certain lower tier raid boss (*cough* Alolan Raichu and Marowak *cough*) without running or driving all around the town until you find something.

Without further ado, let’s go through what you need to do to see a raid from any gym your Pokémon is placed in!

Place your Pokémon in a Gym

You have to have a Pokémon in the gym you are watching at all times, otherwise this will not work. That’s a given, I know, but bear with me. Once your Pokémon is in the gym, you can view them from either the gym medal screen or from the defending Pokémon’s screen, like such:

You can click on the Pokémon from the medal screen, or the blaring ‘go to gym’ button from the Pokémon page, it will take you either to the gym where you can feed berries, or tell you that there is a raid in progress.

From here there are two paths you can take.

Look to see if there is a raid starting.

If there is an egg on the gym, it will be in the bottom left corner of the screen. Like so.

There will be nothing there at all if there is no raid battle hatching. If you click on the egg it will take you to the raid screen, where you can see exactly what level raid is hatching, and the timer for when it will be hatching.

From here you can set a mental or physical reminder for yourself to check the egg once it hatches, if it is something you or your community is interested in it of course. Most people are not interested in level 1 raids, but level 2 and above is worth looking at (sweet, sweet Mawile….).

Once the egg hatches, or if there is already a raid battle in progress.

If this screen pops up when you click on the Pokémon stating that there is a raid battle in progress, this is the fun part. If you close out of that screen and go to the home/gameplay screen and click the little white tab in the bottom right corner, you can swipe over to raids and BOOM the remote raid will be listed right there, even if you are nowhere close to the gym at all.

From this screen you will see the raid boss, and new and improved, you will be able to see the timer it has left!

That’s it, that’s the trick! Most of you already probably know it, but if you have trouble explaining it to someone or just need to share it with others, feel free to share this guide with your friends. If you have any other tips, leave them in the comment section below!

Happy raiding everyone!
