How to play at Native Refresh Rate in Pokémon GO

Posted in

Starting with Pokémon GO version 225, players can now make Pokémon GO run at their device screen’s native refresh rate. This change is applied on both iOS and Android versions of the game, and it finally brings high-refresh-rate game play to GO.

Playing at a higher refresh rate could drain more battery, but it allows the game to run at higher FPS count than it would otherwise.

How to activate Native Refresh Rate mode

The process to activate Native refresh rate mode is simple:

  1. Open the main menu by tapping the PokéBall icon
  2. Go to the Settings menu
  3. Scroll to the bottom and open the Advanced Settings menu item
  4. Click the “Native Refresh Rate” menu item
  5. You’re done

Playing at a high refresh rate on both platforms is a truly phenomenal experience. We’re not sure if it does anything to improve our throwing, but it sure feels like we are pro-level Trainers all of a sudden.
