Hello Trainers! Welcome to another meta-analysis, where we take a close look at Hisuian Goodra, the final evolution of Hisuian Sliggoo from the Hisui region. Both these Hisuian forms are making their debut with in-person GO Wild Area 2026 in Sendai • Tohoku and Mexico City. With an impressively bulky stat spread, a rare defensive typing and a movepool that includes strong coverage, Hisuian Goodra looks promising on paper. But does it have what it takes to matter in Pokémon GO’s meta? Let’s find out!

Hisuian Goodra is a Steel and Dragon Pokémon with a defensively oriented profile. Its high Defense of 255 is its biggest selling point, allowing it to soak neutral damage far better than many Dragon alternatives. Its dual typing gives it valuable resistances to 10 different types including double resistance to Grass and Poison.
Hisuian Goodra is not a serious raid attacker. Of all the pseudo-legendary Pokémon, Hisuian Goodra’s attack stat of 211 is the lowest. While the TDO is respectable because of its bulk, the DPS is simply too low for it to compete with established raid attackers. Using our DPS Comparer Tool:

As a Dragon attacker, Hisuian Goodra is outclassed by every other pseudo-legendary Dragon except Kommo-o. If Legendary, Shadow and Mega Pokémon are included, Hisuian Goodra’s ranking falls even lower. The only saving grace is its Steel typing, which allows it to take only netural damage from opposing Dragon raid bosses, thus, helping it survive longer in raid battles.

As a Steel attacker, a similar story continues, where Hisuian Goodra’s low attack stat and poor moveset restricts its output. Hisuian Goodra’s performance as a Steel attacker is comparable to Bisharp, which is hardly a compliment. For raids, build Hisuian Goodra only if you love the Pokémon or want a durable generalist for lower-tier content. It is not a meaningful budget replacement for top Dragon or Steel attackers.
Ideal Moveset: Dragon Tail
+ Heavy Slam
& Draco Meteor
PvP is where Hisuian Goodra’s bulk and typing have the best chance to shine. Dragon Tail is its most flexible Fast Attack, offering solid damage and energy generation, while Heavy Slam gives it a relatively cheap Charged Attack. Draco Meteor provides a huge nuke, though it lowers Hisuian Goodra’s own Attack after use. The main issue is that Hisuian Goodra’s Charged Attack options are slow and largely nuke oriented. It lacks a low-cost spam move but that is where its high bulk comes into play, allowing Hisuian Goodra to reach its Charged Attack and pressure either shields or threaten a KO.
Hisuian Goodra’s performance in Great League is directly tied to number of shields in play. The more shields in play, the lesser its win-loss ratio. In zero-shield scenario, Hisuian Goodra performs brilliantly, securing twice as many victories as defeats. Its wins include Malamar, Charjabug, Furret, Guzzlord, Vigoroth, Mantine, Marowak and Jumpluff. The losses include Mimikyu, Rillaboom, Tinkaton, Dunsparce and Melmetal. In 1v1, the number of wins decrease with the likes of Marowak, Malamar and Vigoroth moving towards the loss column. In 2v2, the script flips completely, with number of defeats now more than twice the number of victories.
Hisuian Goodra’s ideal IV spread for Great League is: 0/14/14, 1499 CP, Level 17.
Ultra League is Hisuian Goodra’s most plausible PvP home because it can approach the 2,500 CP cap with a stronger stat spread. Its performance across zero and 1v1 shield scenarios is fairly balanced, though in 2v2, it experiences a distinct drop. In Ultra League, Hisuian Goodra wins against the likes of Snorlax, Feraligatr, Giratina (Altered), Kingdra, Regidrago and Talonflame. On the other hand, it loses against Virizon, Swampert, Skeledirge, Corviknight and Florges. In 2v2 shields scenario, it loses to Talonflame, regular Feraligatr and Giratina (Altered).
Hisuian Goodra’s ideal IV spread for Ultra League is: 0/15/11, 2500 CP, Level 28.5.
Hisuian Goodra has no real Master League role. Its stats and moveset are not enough to compete with Master League meta-Pokémon. For serious Master League play, better Dragon and Steel type options are widely available.
Hisuian Goodra’s ideal IV spread for Master League is: 15/15/15, 3754 CP, Level 50.
The short answer is—not for most Trainers. Hisuian Goodra is an interesting collection Pokémon with genuine defensive potential, but its PvE damage is too low and its PvP performance, though respectable, is still isn’t strong enough to make it a consistent meta threat. Build it if you want a bulky and off-meta PvP pick or enjoy anti-meta teams. Skip it if you need a raid attacker or want a reliable PvP Pokémon.
A future update could change its outlook significantly. A cheaper Steel or Dragon type Charged Attack, something in the 35-45 energy range, would immediately make Hisuian Goodra far more dangerous. It also has a Steel type signature move called Shelter, which may improve Hisuian Goodra’s performance in PvE as well. Until then, Hisuian Goodra is best treated as a fun, durable niche pick rather than a resource priority.
Hisuian Goodra has an excellent design, a rare dual typing, and enough natural bulk to make opponents think twice before throwing out charged attacks. Unfortunately, Pokémon GO’s current meta rewards either exceptional damage output or efficient Charged Attack pressure, and Hisuian Goodra offers only a partial version of the latter. However, it can be a blessing in disguise, as currently there is no news of Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra being available for GO Wild Area 2026: Global.
For Trainers who are attending the in-person GO Wild Area, catch and evolve one for the Pokédex, keep a strong PvP IV specimen and consider powering up a Hisuian Goodra only if you truly enjoy off-meta team building. For raids and high-level competitive play, your resources are better spent elsewhere.
Let us know, Trainers! What move do you think would make Hisuian Goodra truly competitive in Pokémon GO? Which Hisuian Form is your favorite?
And as always, stay safe!
