Mega Falinks in Pokémon GO: Is It Good in Raids and Worth Building?

Welcome Trainers! We have another new Mega joining the battlefield! Mega Falinks is making its debut in Pokémon GO on May 23 with Falinks Super Mega Raid Day. Fighting types have always had strong competition in raids, so the big question is simple: does Mega Falinks have what it takes to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best, or is it just another flashy arrival with limited impact? Let us break it down and see if Mega Falinks can punch its way into the meta!

Mega Falinks, introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, is a pure Fighting type Pokémon that boasts a strong offensive stat spread, with 267 Attack and a Max CP of 4149. It has 3 weaknesses and 3 resistances, giving it a simple but effective defensive profile. While Falinks is Mega Evolved, players have an increased chance of receiving XL Candy for catching Fighting type Pokémon.

Falinks gets a genuinely impressive boost after Mega Evolution, and on paper, Mega Falinks stat profile looks very promising. With 267 Attack and a max CP of 4149, it lands in a strong spot for a Fighting type. For comparison: Terrakion has a 260 Attack stat and Max CP of 4181. Unfortunately, Mega Falinks is held back by its moveset. The stats are there, but without the kind of optimized Fighting type attack options that let top-tier raid attackers fully capitalize on their offensive ceiling, it falls short of what the numbers initially promise. Using our DPS Comparer Tool, let’s compare Mega Falinks’ performance with Top Fighting Raid Attackers:

Mega Falinks feels like it’s stuck in that awkward middle tier, where it performs decently enough but never really stands out. Its overall output is similar to Conkeldurr, which already tells you it is nowhere near the top of the Fighting meta. Even when you compare it to Terrakion, the difference is pretty noticeable. Their stats are not worlds apart, but in actual battles Terrakion pulls ahead, and a lot of that comes down to the moveset.

That is really the biggest issue with Mega Falinks. It just does not have the kind of move combination needed to make the most of its stats, so its performance ends up feeling underwhelming. And things only get worse when you look at the Mega slot itself. Since you can only run one Mega Evolution at a time, Mega Falinks has to compete with monsters like Mega Blaziken, Mega Lucario, and Mega Heracross, all of which are on a completely different level as Fighting type attackers. Hence, Mega Falinks ends up feeling pretty pointless in practice. It is not terrible, but there is rarely any real reason to use it when several much stronger Mega Fighting-types are already available.

Is Mega Falinks Worth Building?

Honestly, Mega Falinks is not a priority build for most players. It is usable, and its stat spread is definitely better than what many people might expect at first glance, but the moveset holds it back too much to justify heavy investment. In raids, it ends up sitting in that awkward space where it is not bad, but it is also not good enough to beat out the established options.

That said, Mega Falinks is not completely without long-term potential. Its signature move, No Retreat, could eventually change the conversation if Scopely gives it a strong implementation in Pokémon GO (honestly, the event was perfect to give Falinks its signature move!). If No Retreat ends up functioning as a powerful Fighting type move, Mega Falinks could see a noticeable jump in value. The raw stats are already solid enough that it would not need a massive push to become more relevant. For now, though, Mega Falinks feels more like a dex-filler rather than a must-build Mega.

Parting Words

That is it, Trainers! Mega Falinks has officially marched into Pokémon GO, but for now, it feels more like a flashy new recruit than a true Fighting powerhouse. The stats are solid and the potential is definitely there, but until it gets a better moveset, Mega Falinks struggles to stand in-formation with the top-tier raid attackers. If you are a collector or just love Falinks, it is still a fun Mega to add to your roster, but meta-focused players can safely keep this one lower on the priority list for now.
