Pokemon GO Entei Suicune Raikou

Legendary Pokémon are a group of incredibly rare and often very powerful Pokémon, generally featured prominently in the legends and myths of the Pokémon world. In Pokémon GO we can find them only at Legendary raids where they stay only for a limited amount of time.

More Legendary Pokémon were introduced in Generation II, adding five more Legendary Pokémon. The Legendary Pokémon introduced in this generation can be separated into a trio and a duo.

Legendary beasts

Like the Legendary birds of the previous generation, a second trio of similar types was introduced in to the game via Tier 5 Raids. These Legendary beasts are named because their features are based on many different creatures, both real and mythical.

Raikou Type Best moveset
Electric Thunder Shock Electric Wild Charge Electric

Raikou has the highest attack stat of all the Legendary beasts and is probably most useful of them all. Combined with very solid Defense stat and one of the best movesets in the game, Raikou will be the best counter for every Pokemon that is weak to Electric type moves. Until we get Gen V Legendary Pokemon Raikou will probably be the best Electric type Pokemon, and a very Meta relevant one, so it is a great option to spend your stardust on.

Entei Type Best moveset
Fire Fire Fang Fire Overheat Fire
Max CP Attack Defense Stamina

Entei will be a great counter for Regice and Registeel once they get introduced in to the game. But Moltres outperforms Entei pretty much every time as an attacker and is a much better option. Unless you don’t have a good Moltres or you just want another Fire type attacker, you should know that Entei is not future proof of stardust investment.

Suicune Type Best moveset
Water Extrasensory Psychic Hydro Pump Water
Max CP Attack Defense Stamina

Suicune is currently most unusable Legendary Pokemon in the game. It has Attack stat worse than Krabby and has tremendously bad movesets that don’t counter any Pokemon. The fact you can’t put Suicune in a gym and you can only use it as an attacker makes it easy to see you shouldn’t spend any stardust on it.

Tower duo

Tower duo is a fan term for the Legendary duo of Johto that consists of Lugia and Ho-Oh. Just as Lugia was the first Legendary Pokemon introduced in Pokemon GO, Ho-Oh is the first Legendary Pokemon we saw in the Pokemon anime, already in the first episode.

Lugia Type Best moveset
Psychic Flying Extrasensory Psychic Sky Attack Flying
Max CP Attack Defense Stamina

Lugia has one of the best Defense stat in the game, only behind Shuckle, Regice, Regirock and Steelix. The main issue with Lugia is its Attack stat. Lugia is not a great attacker in terms of DPS, but its bulk will allow it to stay in battle for a longer period of time. It can be used as a resource-efficient attacker in Machamp raids or against other Fighting type Pokemon. But there are better Psychic type attackers in the game so Lugia shouldn’t be the priority. Read more about Lugia in current meta game in this great article by Kratos.

Ho-Oh Type Best moveset
Fire Flying Steel Wing Steel Brave Bird Flying
Max CP Attack Defense Stamina

Ho-Oh has great stats all around but it’s moveset is what brings Ho-oh down. It can’t be used effectively against any meta relevant Pokemon at the moment and it doesn’t have a bright future. More about that topic read here in a great article by BedelTheBard. Unless we get Ho-oh raids back, like we got Lugia, with a better, more usable moveset, you shouldn’t spend your stadust on it.
