The Master League is always brimming with the strongest Legendaries and Pseudo Legendaries but some are just built differently. Pokémon like Dialga & Plakia Origin have taken this meta by storm but there’s another pair that is perhaps scarier – Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma.
These two stalwarts have terrorized the PvP and PvE meta alike, and with their Raid Day on December 14, 2024, trainers can pursue a Hundo/Shundo, while those already having a top-notch DM or DW Necrozma can power them up.
These two are some of the top additions to the meta so let’s delve into just how dominating they are in the big, bad Master League!
Dusk Mane Necrozma in the Master League
Stats | Dusk Mane Necrozma |
ATK | 277 |
DEF | 220 |
HP | 200 |
The Psychic/Steel type Dusk Mane Necrozma has put Metagross to shame and has a higher ATK than Groudon, Kyogre, and Dialga. It’s also pretty bulky, being able to tank a super-effective Drill Run from Excadrill as well!
Its go-to Fast Move is Shadow Claw even though it lacks STAB and while the buffed (and stab) Metal Claw is great, Shadow Claw is one of the best PvP moves and also gives DM Necrozma wide coverage. Dark Pulse or Outrage makes it deadly, the former giving it a cheap option and demand shields, while the latter nails Dragon types commonly found in the Master League.
But, its real weapon of mass destruction is its signature Sunsteel Strike which dishes out an insane 135 DMG at 65 energy, without any debuffs! With this, it can take out a huge chunk of the opponent’s HP even if it resists Steel type damage. Since DM Necrozma is tanky enough to take hits, it can fire off a Sunsteel Strike easily, making it a deadly closer. If you bring in DM Necrozma when shields are up, resort to Dark Pulse instead.
(1-1) shield scenario
Dusk Mane Necrozma is excellent at toppling Dragon, Fairy, and Steel types, serving as a formidable core breaker in the process. Be it the deadly duo of Dialga and Palkia Origin (and their base forms), Giratina Altered and Origin, Dragonite, Zacian Hero, Melmetal, Primarina, Togekiss, Florges, Tapu Bulu, or Metagross, DM Necrozma slays them all! It also takes a toll on Excadrill, leaving it with little HP to continue.
Overall, DM Necrozma can shatter its opponents, and with Steel, Fairy, and Dragon types widely found in most Master League teams, enjoy a field day with Dusk Mane Necrozma’s utter dominance.
(2-2) shield scenario
Dusk Mane Necrozma is a little less scary when both shields are up since it puts a constraint on using Sunsteel Strike, increasing reliance on non-STAB Shadow Claw. It still claims victories against most of the same Pokémon as (1-1) shield Palkia Origin, Palkia, Giratina Origin, and Dragonite.
(0-0) shield scenario
With absolutely nothing to stop Sunsteel Strike from breaking out, the (2-2) shield scenario is Dusk Mane Necrozma’s deadliest! Alongside all the wins from the (0-0) and (1-1) shield scenarios (except Palkia and Plakia Origin), DM Necrozma also beats powerful Ground types like Zygarde Complete, Landorus Therian, Mamoswine, and Rhyperior! Additionally, Mewtwo and Dawn Wings Necrozma go down as well.
Also, thanks to its Psychic and Steel type combo, it has 10 resistances, including Poison, Psychic, Dragon, Fairy, , Grass, Ice, Normal. Rock, and Steel. As such, aside from being pretty bulky, it is able to withstand most attacks even when shields aren’t available.
Dusk Mane Necrozma: Master League takeaway
Dusk Mane Necrozma is phenomenal, putting up a glorious display in any role. However, it’s best used when shields are out, giving it the freedom to express Sunsteel Strike.
Dawn Wings Necrozma in the Master League
Stats | Dawn Wings Necrozma |
ATK | 277 |
DEF | 220 |
HP | 200 |
The spooky Dawn Wings Necrozma is a Psychic/Ghost type Pokémon, giving it only two weaknesses: Dark and Ghost (both are double weaknesses). That said, expect a few occasions where you face Yveltal or Giratina, you’re not going to run into too many Dark or Ghost types in the Master League.
Now, just like Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma have the stats, their signature moves also mirror each other in that way. Indeed, the terrifying Moongeist Beam also costs 60 energy and inflicts 130 DMG. That said, Moongeist Beam is perhaps a tad scarier than Sunsteel Strike since Ghost and Normal resist Moongeist Beam.
On the other hand, Steel covers 11 out of 18 types in terms of neutral damage and does super-effective damage to three. So, four types, including Electric, Fire, Steel, and Water resist Sunsteel Strike.
However, remember that both these moves are extremely powerful so they do quite a number even when resisted.
And, umm, Its go-to Fast move is also Shadow Claw and it gets STAB! 😈
With that being said, how does DW Necrozma fare in the Master League?
(1-1) shield scenario
Packing Dark Pulse as the second Charged move, DW Necrozma is great in the (1-1), taking down various targets including Zacian Hero, Primarina, Togekiss, Xerneas, Metagross, Excadrill, Melmetal, Dialga Origin, Dialga, Dragonite, Palkia (not Origin), Kyogre, and Landorus Therian. It really does seem like the Necrozma fusions despise Fairy, Steel, and Dragon types. 😛
(2-2) shield scenario
It has to solely rely on Shadow Claw and while it gets STAB, it has fewer resistances than Dusk Mane Necrozma. Still, threats like Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, and Mamoswine get added to its (1-1) win column but it also loses to Togekiss, Dragonite, Landorus Therian, and Palkia. But, thanks to its high ATK, it can still make dents in the armor of opponents it’s losing to.
(0-0) shield scenario
Out of all Necrozma fusion shenanigans… basically, including all Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings battle profiles under different shield scenarios… nothing is as monstrous as Dawn Wings Necrozma without any shields left.
This thing beats everything except obvious threats such as Yveltal, Zarude, Giratina Origin (it beats Altered), Shadow Rhyperior (beats the regular), Ursaluna, Zygarde Complete, and Dusk Mane Necrozma (narrowly survives).
It’s an absolute menace without shields, putting up a tough fight even when it’s going down. Get one with as high IVs as possible and max it out!
Dawn Wings Necrozma: Master League takeaway
Dawn Wings Necrozma is a horror to deal with (for opponents) and a pleasure to win with (for you). You can never go wrong with an OP Ghost type!
Conclusion
The Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings fusions of Necrozma are two of the most overpowered Pokémon in the Master League and top powerhouses in PvE as well.
At the lofty heights of the Pokémon GO meta, touched only by the likes of elite species like Mega Rayquaza, Primal Groudon and Kyogre, Dialga and Palkia Origin, Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma take their rightful place. They are must-haves, go ace the meta with them!
