Your Go-To PvE Guide for Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Global: Part 1

Hello, Trainers! The most anticipated event of the year has finally arrived, as Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Global is here in full swing. While much of the excitement will naturally revolve around headline attractions like Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Zeraora, there is another important part of the event that Trainers should not overlook: The Wild Spawns.

At first glance, wild encounters may seem less exciting, but they can still offer plenty of value, especially for Trainers looking to strengthen their PvE roster. This year, Scopely has also introduced a notable change to the spawn format. Instead of rotating featured encounters by habitat hour, GO Fest 2026 Global is centred around featured Pokémon types, giving the event a fresh structure and a different way to evaluate what is worth prioritizing. With that in mind, in this Part 1 of PvE analysis we will take a closer look at the 9 Pokémon types that are featured on Day 1 (Saturday) of the GO Fest and highlight the best catches from each one. If you are planning to make the most of your event hours, this guide will help you identify which Pokémon deserve your attention and which ones can make a meaningful impact on your raid lineup.

GO Fest 2026 Global Spawns

During each hour of the event, trainers will have an increased chance of encountering Pokémon with specific typing. Over the course of the weekend, all 18 Pokémon types will be featured!

Stormfire Peaks

The first habitat on the schedule is Stormfire Peaks, and it brings together Ice, Electric, and Fire type Pokémon. That is a very appealing mix for PvE-focused Trainers, because all three typings have genuine offensive value and include several strong raid attackers.

Let’s start with Ice types. It remains one of the most important offensive typings in Pokémon GO, mainly because it is super effective against Dragon types, and Dragon is a typing shared by a long list of Legendary and Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon. That alone makes a solid Ice roster incredibly valuable for almost every Trainer. They are also relatively limited in number compared to many other typings, which makes every good Ice attacker feel even more important.

Among the Ice type spawns, Swinub, Frigibax, Sneasel, and Snover stand out as the most PvE-relevant targets. Their final evolutions all have raid utility to varying degrees. Mamoswine has been a staple Ice attacker for years and still holds its place extremely well, with Shadow Mamoswine remaining one of the top Ice attackers in the game. Baxcalibur is another standout option, especially after its June 2026 Community Day pushed it further into the spotlight. For Trainers who missed that event, this habitat offers a good chance to catch more Frigibax and stock up on valuable XL Candy. Shadow Weavile and Mega Abomasnow are also respectable additions, especially for players looking to round out their Ice lineups with reliable backup options.

Electric types are the next big attraction here. While many of the absolute best Electric attackers are not usually found in the wild, Stormfire Peaks still offers several accessible and worthwhile Electric spawns that can help strengthen a raid team without requiring rare raid exclusives or heavy investment.

Magnemite and Electabuzz are among the most desirable Electric type encounters in this habitat. Their final evolutions all have real PvE relevance, whether as primary attackers or strong secondary options for Trainers who have not fully built premium choices such as Shadow Raikou or Xurkitree. Mega Ampharos is especially useful because they do more than just deal damage, they also provide a damage boost to allies in raids. On the Shadow side, Shadow Magnezone and Shadow Electivire remain hard-hitting attackers that benefit greatly from the Shadow damage bonus.

Fire types round out Stormfire Peaks, and unsurprisingly, the starters lead the conversation here. With access to Blast Burn, Fire starters, along with their Shadow forms and Mega Evolutions, consistently rank among the strongest Fire attackers in the game.

Charmander, Torchic and Litwick are some of the key wild spawns to prioritize if you want to improve your Fire roster. Mega Charizard Y, Mega Blaziken, and Shadow Chandelure are among the most accessible and budget-friendly high-end Fire attackers currently available. More importantly, they are not just usable, they are genuinely elite options. Several of them also carry extra value thanks to their secondary typings. Mega Blaziken and Shadow Chandelure, for example, can contribute in more than one offensive role, which makes them especially efficient investments for raid-focused players.

Best Pokémon to Mega Evolve for Mega Evolution Bonus: Ampharos, Abomasnow or Charizard.

Astral Tides

The next habitat is Astral Tides, which features Psychic, Ghost and Water type spawns. Psychic types are mainly used to counter Fighting and Poison type raid bosses, while Ghost types are relied upon against Ghost and Psychic targets. Their use cases may be narrower than those of some other typings, but when those matchups matter, these types usually deliver the best results. Water Pokémon, meanwhile, have remained popular for years because of both their depth and flexibility. Water has the largest pool of Pokémon in the game and is a go-to offensive type for dealing with Fire, Rock and Ground raid bosses.

Among Psychic types, Mewtwo still sits firmly at the top, but Astral Tides includes a few wild spawns that are very much worth chasing for Trainers who want strong alternatives or useful Mega options.

Abra, Ralts, and Beldum are the standout Psychic targets here. Each one offers a different kind of utility. Mega Alakazam can be viewed as a more accessible, toned-down version of Mega Mewtwo: it is a strong Psychic attacker in its own right, and thanks to Shadow Ball, it can also function as a Ghost attacker when needed. Mega Metagross has some Psychic type value, though its true long-term appeal lies in its role as a top-tier Steel attacker. Ralts is particularly appealing because it opens the door to both Mega Gardevoir and Mega Gallade, giving Trainers flexibility across multiple roles.

Ghost type wild spawns are more limited, but there are still a few notable targets. Gastly is probably the most important of the group and remains one of the most iconic Ghost lines in the game.

Mega Gengar continues to lead the Ghost type charts, while Mega Banette and Shadow Chandelure remain very strong alternatives. That makes Gastly, Shuppet, and Litwick all worthwhile candy grinds during this habitat.

Water types  are the final major draw in Astral Tides, and this is a category where the established hierarchy is already very familiar. Kyogre still dominates the Water meta, and with it, Hydro Cannon starters continue to define much of the type’s strength.

Mudkip, Squirtle, Totodile, Krabby, and Magikarp are some of the best Water spawns to target here. Their final evolutions have each held PvE relevance for a long time. Mega Swampert, Mega Blastoise, and Mega Gyarados have all made a lasting impact on the raid meta, while Shadow Kingler and Shadow Feraligatr represent some of the more notable non-Mega and newer high-performing options. For Trainers looking to build a dependable Water roster without relying entirely on Legendaries, this habitat provides plenty of useful catches.

Best Pokémon to Mega Evolve for Mega Evolution Bonus: Slowbro or Gengar.

Dragonflight Summit

The final Day 1 habitat is Dragonflight Summit, featuring Flying, Rock and Dragon type Pokémon. This is likely to be one of the most exciting habitats for many Trainers, largely because Dragon spawns always draw attention. Even so, the habitat is not just about Dragons. Rock types offer serious PvE value, and Flying types, while less central in raids, still include a few noteworthy picks.

Flying attackers have traditionally taken a back seat in PvE because they often overlap with stronger or more efficient alternatives, especially Fire and Psychic types. Rock attackers face a somewhat similar challenge, often competing with Ice and Water types in several matchups. Still, Rock has carved out a meaningful niche thanks to its strongest representatives. Dragon types, of course, remain some of the most coveted wild spawns in the game, especially because of their connection to Legendary and Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon across multiple generations.

Flying is easily the least impactful of the three typings in this habitat, but there are still a few points of interest. There are not many top-tier Flying attackers available as wild spawns, which limits the habitat’s value on this front.

Pikipek is one of the few Flying related spawns with any real PvE relevance, as Shadow Toucannon sits just outside the top tier of Flying attackers. More importantly, Bagon also matters here, even though it is a Dragon type spawn, because Mega Salamence pulls double duty as both a Dragon and Flying type raid attacker. Trainers can also look out for Pidgey and Starly. Mega Pidgeot remains a useful Flying Mega because of the raid boost it provides to allies, while Shadow Staraptor is a serviceable backup option. Its long-term relevance could rise if Mega Staraptor is ever introduced.

Rock types, on the other hand, are much more attractive from a PvE perspective. Unlike many other typings where Legendaries dominate the top of the charts, Rock has a deep pool of strong non-Legendary options, and many of them can be found as regular wild spawns.

Rhyhorn, Larvitar, Aerodactyl, Roggenrola, Tyrunt, and Cranidos are all highly relevant targets in this habitat. Their final evolutions are strong Rock attackers in different ways, whether through Mega Evolution potential or powerful Shadow forms. Mega Tyranitar is one of the best multi-role attackers in the game, combining impressive Rock performance with additional value as Dark raid attacker. Mega Aerodactyl is also a very strong Rock attacker in its own right. Meanwhile, Shadow Rhyperior, Shadow Gigalith, Shadow Tyrantrum, and Shadow Rampardos all convert the Shadow damage boost into extremely high DPS, making them dangerous and highly rewarding raid investments.

Then there are the Dragon types, which will likely be the headline attraction for many players. Dragon wild spawns are almost always among the most sought after during any event, and Dragonflight Summit is no exception.

Gible, Bagon, Axew, and Dratini are the standout Dragon type catches in this habitat. Mega Garchomp and Shadow Garchomp remain among the best Dragon attackers in the game, with the added bonus of also excelling as Ground raid attackers. Mega Salamence offers similar dual utility thanks to its strong Flying performance alongside its Dragon role. Shadow Haxorus is another major prize, especially for Trainers chasing raw damage output, as it delivers some of the highest DPS among non-Mega Dragon attackers. Mega Dragonite, which was released during Global Tour: Kalos, also deserves mention as a strong addition that helps round out the top group of Dragon raid attackers.

Best Pokémon to Mega Evolve for Mega Evolution Bonus: Dragonite, Rayquaza, Salamence or Aerodactyl.

Parting Words

That is it Trainers! Part 1 of our PvE analysis done. While, Dragonflight Summit may look like the habitat that is most likely to attract players chasing premium wild spawns, Stormfire Peaks and Astral Tides are hardly far behind. Each habitat offers a different kind of PvE value, whether that means building essential counters, improving budget raid teams, or hunting Pokémon with both current and future meta relevance.

If the goal is to identify the best Day 1 habitats for Pokémon GO PvE, each one offers something different.

  • Stormfire Peaks is the most balanced habitat, with strong value across Ice, Electric and Fire.
  • Astral Tides is excellent for Water type depth and niche Psychic and Ghost type upgrades.
  • Dragonflight Summit is the most exciting habitat for premium spawns, especially for Rock and Dragon attackers.

A simple way to look at it is this: Stormfire Peaks helps build essentials, Astral Tides strengthens useful specialist roles, and Dragonflight Summit offers some of the most desirable high-value catches of the day. GO Fest 2026 Global gives raid-focused Trainers plenty of reasons to pay close attention to the wild. If you want to make the most of your event time, prioritizing the right catches in each habitat could make a much bigger difference than you might expect.

Let us know Trainers! Aside from Mega Mewtwos and Zeraora, what are you most excited about this year’s GO Fest? Are you looking to target wild spawns or are you going to exclusively raid during the fest?
