Niantic have shared that 2024 brings with it changes to both the Community Ambassador Program, and new benefits for trainers attending community meet ups!
The Community Ambassador Program was relaunched two years ago, and since then it has grown rapidly, welcoming 800 Trainers from over 30 countries into the program. Over 1.9 million players have checked into Campfire events this year, joining other Trainers in their local communities to play Pokémon GO. Niantic believes that these communities have the power to amazing good, and will be working with Community Ambassadors to hold charity events such as donation drives and park clean-ups across the globe during Mankey Community Day in November.
You can find out what your local community is planning by checking Campfire for your closest event, or look at applying to the program yourself! To learn more about how to apply, visit the official FAQ.
Starting on Mankey Community Day, Trainers who check-in via the Campfire app to a Community Ambassador or Club Campfire event will now receive Timed Research that is only for these sponsored community events.
This Timed Research will allow you to choose a focus to match your interests—raids, battling, socializing, or catching—and it will include special Pokémon encounters and items to help you while playing.
You can now also earn an in-game medal by joining Community Ambassador events! Check in and play with your local community to earn the medal, then level it up by attending events. This is a fantastic nod back to the Silph Road Community Day check in medals that many trainers who have been playing for a long time will fondly remember.
Upcoming GMAX events including the GO Bigger event Oct 26th-27th and Gigantamax Gengar during Part Two of the Halloween event Oct 31st-Nov 1st will also reward you with 800 Max Particles for checking in and joining your community to take down these gigantic challenges! This is a great boost to help you be able to take down more Max Battles during these limited time events.
