Argentinian Pokemon GO community collects 1700 KG of charity donations during April Community Day

Trainers, today we’re reporting on something truly miraculous! The Argentinian Pokemon GO community, organised by the Pokemon GO Argentina Facebook page, have managed to collect more than 1,700 kilograms of charity donations, including non perishable food, pet food, used and new winter clothes and cleaning supplies.

948 trainers participated in the action which happened in 14 different cities in Argentina:

  • Bahía Blanca
  • Mar del Plata
  • Resistencia
  • Bell Ville
  • Córdoba Capital
  • Paraná
  • San Salvador de Jujuy
  • Mendoza
  • Viedma
  • Salta
  • San Juan
  • Rosario
  • Ushuaia
  • Tucumán

The action took place on April 15th, and was so successful that even John Hanke, Niantic’s CEO, published a blog post about on NIA’s official blog, titled “Building a Better World Through Games”:

“In January 2018, we began hosting monthly Pokémon GO Community Days enabling Trainers around the world to come together wherever they live and play together. We’ve seen great success from this series of events and are excited to see so much enthusiasm from millions of Trainers worldwide. We have been equally excited learning about what Trainers have done with Pokémon GO Community Day to give back to their own communities. […]

We are excited about the upcoming Earth Day events where Pokémon GO players will come together to clean up beaches, waterways, and parks around the world while unlocking great in-game benefits for Trainers around the world. We can’t wait to see what inspiring acts our Trainers undertake next!”

Here are some pictures from the event, in hopes that it will inspire a similar action in other areas around the globe. If you do run a similar action in your area, let us know and we’ll feature it on the Hub – no questions asked.
