This week in Pokémon news, the RBG Mew card is confirmed as real, the 30th Anniversary TCG set is released, Bangkok gets a Pokémon Center, a ton of new merchandise is released, registration opens for LAIC and more!
RGB Mew Card Revealed
The entire set list for Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration set has been revealed, including the heavily rumoured RGB Mew! This is going to absolutely be the number one chase card from this set, and we wish you luck in your pulls! You are gonna need it. These are all illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN and are designed to represent the original games, Red, Green and Blue.
While there are plenty of other incredible full arts, these unique RBG Mew cards are the standout, and it is going to be incredibly difficult to obtain one, never mind the set. Interestingly these aren’t listed in the card list included in the Elite Trainer Box, showing how rare these are going to be. With rumours already circulating that one of these has sold online for over $20,000.00, this one might get wild.
Pokémon Center Bangkok
The Pokémon Center has confirmed that a new shop will open in Bangkok in December. This Pokémon Center is the third permanent Pokémon Center outside of Japan. All Pokémon Center shops are themed, and the Bangkok branch will feature the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin.
Legendary Birds Merchandise
The Pokémon Center has released a fantastic new range of unisex clothing inspired by both the Kanto and Galarian forms of the Legendary Bird Pokémon Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres! These are really fun, with tie dye vibes, hoodies, joggers, hats and even a denim jacket available for sale.
Meltan and Melmetal Sitting Cuties
Meltan and Melmetal have been added to the Sitting Cuties range of Pokémon plushies! The Sitting Cuties range are a great, more budget option in terms of official Pokémon plushies, and are a fairly small size making them easy to add to your collection.
2027 Latin America International Championships
Registration for the 2027 Latin America International Championships is approaching! The 2027 Latin America International Championships (LAIC) take place in São Paulo, Brazil, from November 20 to 22, 2026. Competitors and spectators will register on the official tournament platform in two waves.
Competitors will be able to able to register to compete in Pokémon VGC, Pokémon TCG, and Pokémon GO. Pokémon VGC competitors will have to adhere to the Pokémon Champions device policy, which requires that you use any console from the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 family of systems.
Competitor Registration
- Competitor Wave 1: September 22, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. BRT (3:00 p.m. PDT)
- Competitor Wave 2: September 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. BRT (5:00 a.m. PDT)
Spectator Registration
- Open Registration: September 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. BRT (5:00 a.m. PDT)
Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO competitors will also need to prepare a team for the 2027 LAIC limited meta, which will include Mega-Evolved Pokémon for the first time.
The rules are as follows:
- Fire Dark Steel and Fairy type Pokémon are not eligible to compete.
- Legendary Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon and Ultra Beasts are banned
- The following Pokémon will also be prohibited: Chansey, Snorlax, Furret, Wobbuffet, Galarian Corsola, Kingdra, Mega Sableye, Medicham, Altaria, Dusclops, Jellicent, Araquanid, Oranguru, Minior and Clodsire
Pokémon that have undergone Primal Reversion and all Mega-Evolved Pokémon, with the exception of Mega Sableye, are eligible.
