Pokémon storage size increase: maximum size grows to 1500, everyone gets 50 additional slots for free

Niantic has published a new Developer Insights post published today confirming the following

  • the maximum Pokémon storage size you can unlock via in-game store upgrades will be increased to 1500 (up from 1000)
  • everyone will get a 50 slot increase for free, to accommodate for the new Pokémon originally found in the Hoenn region

Niantic has acknowledged player’s demands by saying “We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear”, making this one of the first examples of a player feedback driven decision to be made. This change is not yet live, it’s expected to go live with Generation III.

The official wording of the statement is as follows:

With the addition of Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region, the need for more Pokémon Storage is greater than ever. You’ll now be able to store up to 1,500 Pokémon. We’ve also increased the minimum Pokémon Storage size by 50, so all Trainers will soon be able to carry 50 additional Pokémon.

In addition to the Pokémon storage increase, Niantic has touched on the subject of Battle Parties. Battle Parties are now in a beta period and are currently only available in raid battle scenarios. Battle Parties are currently not synced to your Google/PTC  account — they are saved on your phone during Beta and won’t be available on a different device. Once the feature fully launches, your battle parties will carry over when you switch devices.

We are loving the increased communication and these developer insights. After almost a year of communication breakdown and bite sized news, often veiled in controversy and confusion, it’s completely refreshing to see something different.

We, for one, welcome our new communication overlords.
