This Week in Pokémon GO: 11-17 September 2023

Coming this week in Pokémon GO, commencing 11th September, a new wave of Paldean Pokémon debut in GO, Oddish Research Day takes place, and more!

Oddish Research Day

September 17, 2023 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time is Oddish Research Day! Spin PokéStops to get special field research tasks to earn encounters with Oddish, and certain Grass type Pokémon will spawn more in the wild.

Adventures Abound Special Research

Choose your Paldean partner Pokémon! A new Special Research story with branching paths will be available to Trainers! Throughout Pokémon GO: Adventures Abound, you’ll be able to adventure together and bond with your chosen partner Pokémon.

You can claim this Special Research at no cost from Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Friday, December 1, 2023, at 9:59 a.m. local time.

Timed Investigation: Master Ball

Embark on the path to mastery, Trainers. A Timed Investigation is a lengthy series of challenges available during a set period of time. Seeing this journey through will offer some of the rarest rewards you can obtain in Pokémon GO.

Timed Investigation: Master Ball will be available throughout Pokémon GO: Adventures Abound. Complete the Timed Investigation by Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time to receive the very best Poké Ball with the ultimate level of performance—the Master Ball.

When used, it will catch any Pokémon you encounter in Pokémon GO without fail, whether it be in the wild, through Lure Modules, after Raid Battles, or while using your Daily Adventure Incense.

• For Trainers who are unable to complete Timed Investigation: Master Ball by November 21, 2023, a Special Research ticket that awards a Master Ball will be available to purchase.

GO Battle League Season 16

GO Battle League: Adventures Abound will start on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. PT.

The following will occur at the beginning of the Season:

• End-of-Season rewards will be available on the battle screen.
• Your GO Battle League rank will be reset.
• Rank-up requirements will remain the same as the prior
  Season.

Spotlight Hour

Mankey

Tuesday September 12th 6pm till 7pm local time we have Mankey as the featured Pokémon for spotlight hour, along with 2x candy for catching Pokémon.

Raid Hour

Wednesday September 13th 6pm till 7pm local time Kartana and Celesteela will appear in five-star raids outside of their typical regions, with Celesteela in the Northern Hemisphere, and Kartana in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mega Raids

Manectric (Mega)

From September 1 to September 16 Mega Manectric will make their debut in Mega Raids.

Gardevoir (Mega)

From September 16 to October 6 Mega Gardevoir will appear in Mega Raids.

Five Star Raids

From September 8 to September 16 Kartana and Celesteela will appear in five-star raids. In a rare occurrence, Celesteela and Kartana will temporarily appear in different parts of the world!

Genesect (Burn Drive)

From September 16 to September 23 Genesect (Burn Drive) will appear in five-star raids.

Shadow Raids

One-star and three-star Shadow Raids will be available daily, while five-star Shadow Raids will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, unless otherwise noted. Also, Shadow Zapdos will swoop into five-star Shadow Raids during Adventures Abound!

For the first time in Pokémon GO, you may even encounter a Shiny Shadow Zapdos—if you’re lucky!

The following bonuses are specific to Season 12: Adventures Abound.

Trainers can open up to 40 Gifts daily

Trainers can hold up to to 40 Gifts in their bag

Increased damage when participating in raids with a friend

Increased XP from going up a Friendship level

Season of Adventures Abound Research Breakthrough

• From September 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT -7) to December 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
  PDT (GMT -7)
• Complete Field Research tasks during the whole season to earn an encounter from a pool of Pokémon, including Sableye, Galarian Farfetch’d, Larvitar, Furfrou, Bagon and Goomy.

Season of Adventures Abound Field Research Tasks

Starting this Season, Field Research tasks that previously rotated on a monthly basis will now rotate Seasonally. Field Research tasks that award an encounter with Spinda will still rotate monthly. For a full list of the season field research tasks check out our list here.
