Max Mondays are a new addition to the weekly schedule that includes Spotlight Hour and Raid Hours. Much like Raid Hours, Max Mondays will see a dedicated boss feature in Max Battles from 6-7pm local time each Monday. For Max Mondays the focus is on Power Spot bosses instead of raid bosses.
On November 18th a brand new Dynamax Pokémon will debut in Max Battles as part of Max Mondays, with Drilbur being the featured Dynamax Pokémon. Currently this will be your only chance to obtain Dynamax Drilbur (though this is of course subject to change), and if you intend to take part in the Global Wild Area at the end of November, it is an absolute must!
One of the key releases at the Global Wild Area is both Dynamax, and Gigantamax Toxtricity!
Toxtricity is an Electric and Poison type, which means it is only weak to Ground and Psychic type Pokémon. With the current Dynamax Pokémon pool we have very limited access to good counters for Toxtricity. Currently the only Pokémon that are either Psychic type, or have access to Psychic type moves, are Metagross and Gengar. Excadrill, Drilbur’s evolution, is a much stronger attacker to use against Toxtricity in comparison when armed with their Ground type moves.
This makes Dynamax Drilbur a must have for those wanting to work together and take down this incredibly tricky Max Battles! With a mixture of attackers, defensive tanks and healers needed for higher level Dynamax Battles and Gigantamax Battles, Excadrill will be key to your teams.
UPDATE – Dynamax Drilbur will now debut on Friday 15th November 2024 with the Simply Groundbreaking event. This gives you three days to grind Dynamax Drilbur before the Max Mondays! With this in mind, we recommend saving your Max Particles on 14th November so they are full on the 15th November to optimise your grind.
We would recommend ensuring that your Max Particles are full from Sunday 17th November, so that you can do as many Drilbur Max Battles as possible using both your Sunday and Monday Max Particle allowance during the 6-7pm Max Mondays hour.
While we do not know what tier Max Battle Drilbur will be yet, it will be either tier 1 or 3, which will be solo-able. With weaknesses to Grass Water and Ice, you should hopefully have decent Dynamax counters that cover Grass and Water thanks to the First Partner (starter) Pokémon featured as Power Spot bosses currently.
Dynamax Drilbur being on 18th November also means you have some time to level up their Max Moves ahead of needing them against Toxtricity, so we would advise focusing on levelling them up during the rest of the week ahead of the Wild Area event. If you can meet up with a Lucky Friend to reroll one for better IVs that would also be a big help!
If you aren’t available for this Max Monday, focus on your Metagross, and hopefully someone in your community might lucky trade you one.
Best of luck with your Dynamax Drilbur Max Battles! This is truly one for the diary if you can.
