Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature a different Pokémon and a special bonus for one hour at 6:00 p.m. local time on Thursday during the month of August. Mankey Spotlight Hour takes place on August 27th, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, with a bonus of 2x catch candy.

If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x Catch Candy bonus by catching any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! You can stock up on field research or leave any special or timed research encounters until Spotlight Hour to make use of this bonus. If you aren’t interested in Mankey candy, you could even use this bonus to get extra candy from catching raid bosses!

Mankey is a Fighting-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO. As a Fighting-type Pokémon, Mankey is weak to Fairy, Flying, and Psychic-type moves.
Mankey’s maximum Combat Power stat is 1317 CP, and its recommended Pokémon GO moveset is Karate Chop / Brick Break. Mankey encounters are boosted during Cloudy weather. Shiny Mankey is available! ✨

Mega Pokémon that boost Mankey
The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Mankey if they are Mega-evolved.
Mega Catch Bonus
While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy are granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.

Dodging is mandatory though ‼️ | Fighting types get excellent type coverage, and it’s always beneficial to have more of these Pokémon in your teams 👊. While not a top pick, Annihilape certainly works as part of your squad, although it’s wise to remember there are numerous better options overall 👍 |

| 🔵 Great League | Primeape is not only the top Fighting type in this format, but it’s also one of the biggest offensive threats around 😮. The guaranteed ATK boost from Rage Fist, combined with the solid coverage it gains alongside Karate Chop, makes Primeape deadlier as the battle progresses 📈. It claims unlikely victims like Talonflame and Mandibuzz, as well as Shadow Feraligatr, Shadow Drapion, Shadow Quagsire, and more! 🤩. If you’re lucky enough to build a Rage Fist Primeape with the ideal Great League stats of 5/12/11, put it in your team right away 🎯 | The issue with Annihilape is that it is outclassed by its own pre-evolution, Primeape—and by a significant margin! 😅. Feraligatr, Licklicky, Shadow Marowak, Shadow Quagsire, Malamar, Mandibuzz, and Talonflame… these are formidable Great League Pokémon that Annihilape cannot defeat but Primeape can 😲. So, while you can use Annihilape in the Great League, you’re missing out on many wins that you could have achieved with Primeape. |
| 🟡 Ultra League | Primeape’s reign of terror slows down in the Ultra League with the rise of heavyweights like Giratina, Drifblim, and Shadow forms of Dragonite and Golurk 😶🌫️. But, it’s still the go-to Fighting type in this format, defeating the likes of Shadow Feraligatr, Typhlosion, Registeel, and Skeledirge 🔥. While it performs well in any role, using it as a lead is recommended 💯 | The gap between Annihilape and Primeape closes in the Ultra League, with both performing quite similarly 🤝. Primeape’s Karate Chop is offset by Annihilape’s higher bulk. While wins against Registeel, Greninja, Typhlosion, and Ampharos are impressive, it still lacks the strength to face Giratina, Cresselia, Malamar, Skeledirge, and the rising Shadow Golurk 😶🌫️. These Pokémon dominate the meta, and Annihilape would benefit significantly from a Ghost-type Quick attack to better complement Rage Fist. |
| 🟣 Master League | The Master League proves too much for poor Primeape to handle 😶 | The Master League happens to be Annihilape’s best showing, with its Fighting and Ghost coverage paying rich dividends 👀. Add Rage Fist’s ATK-boosting capabilities, and suddenly, Annihilape looks menacing, overpowering Zacian Hero, the Origin and base forms of Dialga & Palkia, Kyogre, and the popular Rhyperior. This Pokémon is a serious core breaker! 🥳. Speaking of cores, it barely loses to Dusk Mane Necrozma but struggles against Dawn Wings Necrozma. All in all, it’s not as dominant as the pre-Counter nerf era, but it’s still a solid improvement 👍. |
