GO Battle League: Interlude Season Blog Post

The Interlude Season is here! We now have confirmed information from Niantic regarding everything you need to know including dates, leagues, rewards and more. We’ll be breaking down this announcement in an easy to read format so you don’t miss any important details.

As we know from previous announcements, this will be a season purely dedicated to Niantic sorting out major issues within the current PvP system. While you may not be able to rank up past rank 20, this does not mean that this will be a boring season. Niantic has a LOT planned for the next 3 months of GO Battle League. Continue reading below for more information.

From the Official Announcement

Trainers,
The next Season of the GO Battle League is here, and it’s a Season like we’ve never had before! As we mentioned previously, upon Season 10’s conclusion, the GO Battle League will move into an Interlude Season.

Learn more about why we’re hosting an Interlude Season in our recently published Dev Diary.

The Interlude Season Start Date, Rank Resets & End of Season Rewards

Season 10 will be extended until Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT –8). Immediately following that, the GO Battle League’s Interlude Season will start on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT –8) and end on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT –8).

Additional Information:

  • End-of-season rewards will be available on the battle screen.
  • Your GO Battle League rank will be reset.
  • Rank-up requirements will remain the same as in Season 10.
  • Rankings will cap at rank 20, and there will be no visible ratings.

As seen in previous posts by Niantic, rankings will be capped at rank 20. This is due to the fact that they do not want to interfere with competitive integrity during the season while they sort out bugs/issues and work on permanent fixes which could cause issues in itself while the code is being re-written.

The Interlude Season Schedule

This Interlude Season will feature a weekly league rotation schedule and will bring back some cups from previous Seasons!

In the following list, leagues and cups that take place on or before March 12 will begin and end at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), while those that occur on or after March 13 will begin and end at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).

Timed Research Ticket: Battle

For our most dedicated battlers, a Timed Research ticket will be available in the shop for free once the Interlude Season begins.

This Timed Research will keep track of your victories throughout the Season. Each research page will require progressively more wins to complete, and doing so will reward you with a small amount of Stardust. Keep at it throughout the Season to see how far you can get!

This is a never before seen research ticket which will allow dedicated battlers to be rewarded further for their efforts during the season. Each win will progress you to unlock better rewards.

Season Rewards

Guaranteed rank-up encounters:

You can encounter the following Pokémon once per season at the designated ranks. At rank 1, you’ll be guaranteed to encounter one of the Pokémon that Gladion is known to use!

Crobat

Pikachu Libre

Shiny Pikachu Libre will not be available to encounter during this Season.

Arguably, this is a good thing for hardcore PvPers who have used blood, sweat and tears in order to be able to obtain a shiny Pikachu Libre. Niantic wants to keep the shiny as an exclusive chance for those who make it to the highest rank in GO Battle League, Legend.

Standard Encounters

You can encounter the following Pokémon in reward encounters throughout the season at the ranks shown below:

Rank 1+

Rank 6+

Rank 11+

Rank 16+

Rank 20+

The Pokémon currently appearing in five-star raids has a chance of appearing as a reward encounter after you reach rank 20.

If anything, this should be more of a reason to participate in GO Battle League this season, as we can see that there are never before seen from Generation VII.

Avatar items and other rewards

  • Pikachu Libre avatar items will be rewarded to Trainers who reach Rank 3.
  • Trainers will be able to earn avatar items and a pose inspired by an enforcer of Team Skull, Gladion, who first appeared in the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games!
  • In celebration of the Season of Alola and the GO Battle League Interlude Season, the entire Gladion avatar item set will be available to those who reach rank 20 this season!

Rank 20: Gladion Cuff Earrings
Rank 20: Gladion Shoes
Rank 20: Gladion Pants
Rank 20: Gladion Hoodie
Rank 20: animated Gladion Pose

At rank 19, you’ll receive an Elite Charged TM, and you’ll also receive an Elite Fast TM as an end-of-season reward.

Trainers who have already received Gladion’s Shoes, Hoodie, or Pants from GO Battle Day rewards will not receive duplicates.

The image above is of Gladion. It’s safe to assume that the avatar items we will receive from reaching rank 20 will be similar to this. Niantic also confirm that there will be an animated pose too which will be exciting to see.

Parting Words

There you have it, everything you need to know about the interlude season. What will be your approach this season? will you bring your A-game or sit back and relax while you bust out that maxed out level 50 Pikachu you thought was a cool idea?

Whatever your approach may be, remember to just have fun at the end of the day. Best of luck on the battlefield.

Until next time, Trainers!
