Pokemon Go News Roundup: January and February Field Research, EX Passes

Posted in

2019 is fast approaching, and Niantic is giving all sorts of news, from EX Raid Waves to their Research plans for January and February. Their plans goes a little something like this: an assortment of popular tasks from previous months, as well as the same Legendaries as December, but now including Niantic’s go-to Legendary duo, Lugia and Ho-Oh! We have a behind the scenes image from Niantic HQ getting ready for the occasion:

Legendary Assortment!

As stated, the research breakthroughs for January and February will include the following Legendaries (Bold indicates shiny possible):

  • Lugia, Ho-Oh, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.

The inclusion of Lugia and Ho-Oh now makes for 5 shiny possible Legendaries from the research breakthroughs, so if you missed any of these before, this is another chance for you to make an attempt at catching one (or if you are like me, get 3 Suicune in a row and ponder the PVP usage of so many Suicune.)

EX Raid Wave: January 4th and 5th

The first EX Raid Wave of the new year has arrived, giving out passes for the 4th and 5th of January, depending on your time zone. Here is hoping you can make your times, and snag this Mythical Pokémon! As usual we have our guide for the new Attack Forme Deoxys, and some nice infographics from the Hub Team:
