This Spotlight Hour is the second October 2026 Pokémon spotlight, and is especially interesting as Elgyem can be shiny!
Trainers who plan to participate should be prepared with a Mega Pokémon to maximise candy gains per Pokémon caught. Here’s everything you need to know.
Elgyem Spotlight Hour
Bonuses
- You will get 2x Candy for catching Pokémon
- The featured Pokémon and its evolutions can be shiny
Note on Catch Bonus
If you do not want to catch the featured Pokémon, you can make use of the 2x Catch Candy bonus by catching any saved Scatterbug, or opening a Mystery Box or Coin Bag! You can stock up on field research or leave any special or timed research encounters until Spotlight Hour to make use of this bonus. If you aren’t interested in Elgyem candy, you could even use this bonus to get extra candy from catching raid bosses!
Elgyem
Elgyem is a Psychic-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO, with a maximum Combat Power of 1566 CP. Elgyem is weak to Bug, Dark, and Ghost moves. It is strong against Fighting and Psychic moves. Shiny Elgyem is available in Pokémon GO. Elgyem is boosted by Windy weather.
Elgyem’s origin is said to be linked with a UFO crash site that appeared 50 years ago. Like Doexys, Elgyem is also an extraterrestrial Pokémon that did not originate from planet Earth.

Bonus Trivia
Do you know why Elgyem is called Elgyem? It is pronounced ell-gee-em, which is like L-G-M, Little Green Men. Little Green Men is one of the many names given to aliens over the years! In Japanese they are known as Ligray, which could be a derivative of Little Greys, Greys being another name for aliens. Beheeyem also references their alien inspired design, with Beheeyem sounding like B-E-M, bug-eyed monster, another alien nickname!
Shiny Elgyem can be a little tricky to spot, particularly if you are quick catching. The shiny form is a slightly different shade of blue, but you need to look out for its eyes. Shiny Elgyem has pink eyes that should help you spot the difference easier!

The following Pokémon will grant you extra bonuses when catching Elgyem if they are Mega/Primal evolved:
A Note on Mega Catch Bonus
While a Pokémon is Mega-Evolved, additional XP and Candy is granted when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it, or for any raid boss caught. These do not stack with each other. Additionally, High and Max Level Mega-Evolved Pokémon grant an increased chance to obtain Candy XL when catching a Pokémon that shares a type with it.
PVE
Beheeyem is a pure Psychic-type Pokémon with a max CP of 3112. It is not useful for PvE, even with its best moveset of Confusion and Psychic.
⚔️ Raids
With Psychic-types having so many dominant and meta-relevant Pokémon, Beheeyem falls to the wayside as it simply doesn’t have the stats to compete.
🛡️ Gyms
Beheeyem is truly an F-tier gym defender, as it lacks both bulk and staying power.
PVP
Beheeyem’s best moveset for PvP is Astonish, Dark Pulse, and Rock Slide. However, it is sadly not a particularly useful PvP Pokémon.
🔵 Great League
Beheeyem is a glass cannon, and glass cannons don’t tend to have much use in PvP. It loses to favorites like Mandibuzz, Drapion, and Clodsire.
🟡 Ultra League
Beheeyem again suffers losses to some major Ultra League contenders, including Giratina and Talonflame. It simply doesn’t have the bulk to compete.
🟣 Master League
Beheeyem phone home. This little alien wants no part in Master League.
