In today’s Nintendo Direct a new trailer was shown for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, revealing the three Mega Evolutions for the original Kalos First Partner Pokémon! Plus, a DLC has been announced for Pokémon Legends: Z-A called ‘Mega Dimension‘, that reveals two new Mega Evolutions for Raichu, Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y!
Chesnaught, Delphox and Greninja are all shown in a battle sequence against a Mega Absol!
Mega Greninja
Mega Greninga has been revealed to be a Water and Dark type. Greninja is seen hanging upside down from a rotating star, almost helicopter-esque?! Greninja is already such a fan favourite, that the Mega is bound to go down a storm!
Mega Delphox
Mega Delphox is a Fire and Psychic type. Delphox leans into the witchy vibes and is shown hovering on a flaming broomstick.
Mega Chesnaught
Mega Chesnaught is a Grass and Fighting type. Chesnaught gets a fabulous cape and staff (not shown in the official render).
A new DLC has already been teased for Pokémon legends: Z-A, with Hoopa, Mega Raichu X, and Mega Raichu Y as the focus!
Sticking with the speculated X and Y shaped Mega theme, Raichu gets two brand new Mega Evolutions, X and Y. Hoopa plays an important role in Mega Dimension’s expanded story, warping space using the rings on its horns and body.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension is compatible with both the Nintendo Switch system and the Nintendo Switch 2 system. Once purchased, it can be accessed regardless of whether you own Pokémon Legends: Z-A or Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Pre-orders for Mega Dimension are available now, with the DLC’s additional story content scheduled to release soon after the DLC goes on sale 16 October 2025.
Both of the new evolutions for Raichu are almost reminiscent of Gorochu, the rumoured original scrapped evolution for Raichu, which was set to have fangs and horns.
Mega Raichu X
Mega Raichu X is a pure Electric type, and has two tails, as well as much larger ears and chunkier hands.
Mega Raichu Y
Mega Raichu X is a pure Electric type, with two new…ears/wings/horns… growing out of the top of its head.
This means we have now had a whopping 9 Mega Evolutions revealed ahead of the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A! While many were expecting the original Kalos First Partner Pokémon to get Mega Evolutions, two Mega Evolutions for Raichu was quite a surprise! In fact, Mega Raichu was not one of the allegedly ‘leaked’ new Megas list which is a nice change of pace. Which is your favourite teased so far?
