Pokémon GO Japan have announced a brand new event taking place in the Asakusa district, Tokyo, Japan, that combines exploring official routes, with beautiful Pokémon GO inspired artwork in the Ukiyo-e map-style.

- End: Sunday, December 10, 2023

- Decorations will appear in various places, and you will need to use the Pokémon GO routes to find them

During the event period, Pokémon drawn on the map-style picture scroll (above) will appear in the Asakusa area even in game. (Some Pokemon will appear in their pre-evolved form).

Raids
Pokemon drawn on the map-style picture scroll will also appear in raid battles at gyms in the Asakusa area.
The following Pokémon will appear in tier 5 raids during the event:
Related raid guides: Moltres, Articuno, Zapdos, Incarnate Tornadus and Incarnate Thundurus.
Routes Pokémon
In addition, eight official routes will appear in the game that will allow you to discover Asakusa’s various charms. In areas near each official route, Pokémon inspired by each route will appear. We’ve had to use google translate for these route themes, so apologies if any are incorrect!
If you complete any of the official routes and present the “Route Badge” after completion, you will receive a map-style picture scroll illustration sticker.

Giant Scroll Artwork
A 9m-long giant picture scroll that uses actual pillars will appear at the Asakusa Rokku Broadway event space. A real Pokéstop of about 4m will also appear nearby.

Pokémon GO Battle Illustrations
An ukiyo-e-style photo spot inspired by the battle scene in Pokémon GO will appear on the wall of Don Quijote Asakusa store. You can feel like a trainer by standing next to Pikachu and taking a photo.
Route Banners
Ukiyo-e-style banners showing the eight official routes that appear in Asakusa for Pokémon GO have appeared and are taking over the streets of the main area. In addition, Pokemon inspired by each route will appear in areas near each official route in Pokemon GO.
Pokémon GO Play Diagram
A visual depicting Ukiyo-e portraits in the style of Pokemon GO trainers will be posted near the route flags.
Meowth Illustration
On the wall of Asakusa Toyokan near the starting point of the “Hosomichi Route” on the Broadway side of Asakusa Rokku, there is a huge illustration of Meowth, the image Pokémon of the “Hosomichi Route”, sitting on about 40 cushions.
- 1 Konjaku route: 1.2km, 18 minutes walk. A route that connects traditional Asakusa and modern Tokyo Skytree🄬.
- Full stomach route: 700m, 9 minutes walk. A foodie-oriented route where you can enjoy popular gourmet food.
- Eie route: 850m, 12 minutes walk. A quaint route where you can take photos unique to Asakusa.
- Recreational route 850m, 12 minutes. A fun route where you can experience Asakusa’s culture and leisure.
- Astonishing route 750m, 10 minutes. A route where you can encounter unusual things typical of Asakusa.
- Waterside route 750m, 9 minutes. A route where you can take a leisurely walk while looking at the Sumida River.
- Hosomichi route 800m, 10 minutes. A route that takes you through the narrow streets of Asakusa that are a bit different from the main streets.
- Night view route 750m, 9 minutes. A special route recommended at night, where you can enjoy a stylish night walk in Asakusa lit up.
