Coming this week in Pokémon GO, commencing 28th February we have the start of a brand new season, the Season of Alola! We don’t have huge amounts of new information yet, but with new Alola Pokémon coming, it looks to be an exciting week!

Season of Alola Announcement Event

Season 10 GO Battle League

GO Battle League Season 10 will start on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8) and finish March 1 with the end of the season. Pokémon appearing in GO Battle League encounters will now be slightly easier to catch.

Between Feb 21 – Feb 28 the following leagues will be available:

*For the Johto Cup:

  • Pokémon must be at or below 1500 CP to enter.
  • Only Pokémon with a Pokédex number from #152 to #251 will be allowed.

February Research Breakthrough Encounters


From Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PST to Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), for the first time in Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to encounter a Shiny Espurr, if you’re lucky.

Mega Raids

Ampharos (Mega)

From Tuesday, February 15, 2022, to Tuesday, March 1, 2022 Mega Ampharos will be appearing in Mega raids.

Five Star Raids

Deoxys (Speed)

From Friday, February 25, 2022, to March 1, 2022 Speed Forme Deoxys will be in 5-star raids.

February Weekly 1 PokéCoin bundles

Every Monday in February, a one-time-purchase bundle containing a Remote Raid Pass and other items will be available in the shop for 1 PokéCoin.

February Monthly Bonus

As part of the Season of Heritage the following bonuses will be active:

Candy XL icon Increased Candy XL from hatching Eggs
Egg icon 2x XP from hatching eggs

February Timed Research Challenge


Trainers who purchase a ticket prior to February 10, 2022, will also receive access to the Season of Heritage’s Timed Research for February! Trainers who have purchased a GO Tour Ticket prior to February 10 must log in to Pokémon GO between February 1, 2022, and February 10, 2022, to receive the Timed Research. The February Timed Research featuring research tasks that reward a Noibat Hat Avatar Item and an encounter with Noibat.

Season of Alola

More Pokémon originally found in the Alola region of the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games are coming to Pokémon GO! During the Season of Alola, you can look forward to three months full of events highlighting a variety of Pokémon that will be making their Pokémon GO debuts!

Season of Heritage

Running from Wednesday, December 1st at 10:00 a.m. local time to Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time, the Season of Heritage is here! Trainers will embark on a journey inspired by the past as we run-up to the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto event.

Seasonal Bonuses 🎁

During the Season of Heritage, the following bonuses will be active.

  • Increased effectiveness of Incense while stationary
  • Added Increased Incense effectiveness while moving
  • Increased damage for Pokémon participating in raids remotely
  • Guaranteed Gifts from PokéStop spins
  • One extra Pokémon Candy when trading Pokémon
  • Guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokémon

Monthly Seasonal Bonuses and Timed Research

  • A different Seasonal Bonus will be featured every month during the Season of Heritage. For December, work alongside Blanche to complete a Stardust Challenge!
  • Timed Research will be available every month and will reward Trainers with exclusive avatar items.
  • December’s Timed Research will be available to all Trainers, while the Timed Research in January and February will be available to those who pre-purchase a ticket for Pokémon GO Tour: Johto.

As the seasons change, different Pokémon will be appearing in different areas across the world!
