Psychic Spectacular makes a return to Pokémon GO during the Season of Light, this year focusing on Alakazam, Mega Alakazam, shiny Elgyem and other popular Psychic type Pokémon. Pokémon GO Psychic Spectacular 2022 takes place from Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, September 12, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
During this time, Mega Alakazam will debut in Mega Raids, Alakazam evolved or caught during the event will know the Charged Move Psychic Psychic, and Wild Encounters will be overtaken by Psychic-type Pokémon.

Shiny Elgyem and Beheeyem
Shiny Elgyem, and consequentially, its evolution Beheeyem, will become available during the Psychic Spectacular 2022 event. The following table shows the difference between both Pokémon’s regular and Shiny variants.
Do note that the color difference is quite subtle, and mostly tied to eyes and fingers.

Notes on Alakazam and Mega Alakazam with Psychic
As mentioned above, Alakazam evolved during the event will know the Charged Move Psychic Psychic. Teban54’s excellent article on Impacts of September 2022 updates on Raid Attackers goes in-depth about Psychic Alakazam’s raid performance, but we wanted to highlight a few key points here as well.
Get a Mega Alakazam with Psychic during this event, even if just for Terrakion raids.
- Mega Alakazam with Psychic (obtainable by evolving or Mega Raids during the event) out-DPSes non-shadow Psystrike Mewtwo! Yes, it can replace a Mewtwo on your team.
- If you’re using a mega, Mega Latios (without signature move) is the most solid in realistic lobby sizes, especially 6-ppl remotes. But Psychic Mega Alakazam is still great, and may be cheaper.
- Psychic types haven’t seen much use, but it’s quality over quantity. Mewtwo and Mega Alakazam are the best counters for Terrakion raids (and others like T3 Galarian Weezing, future Mega Blaziken, and future Eternatus). Most things below Mewtwo are probably not worth it, though.
- Non-legacy Future Sight is a bit below Psychic, but probably not worth an Elite TM. Find another good Abra or Alakazam during the event instead.
- Shadow Alakazam and regular Alakazam are not something to go crazy about, even with Psychic. Don’t be frustrated if you have a shadow stuck with Frustration.
